Rona Bluebell

He just oozes a determined steeliness. It’s also the anticipation of where he could take us. Both the Hibs games deserve special mention, first one for the promising start and the next for stamping a standard. God, love him 💙

Dougie Latta

I hear a lot of this Clement being the first proper manager since Walter stuff. I don’t get it. Gerard had presence, steeliness and respect immediately of everyone. He inherited a complete mess. Not taking anything from Clement but he inherited Tav, Goldson, Butland, Lundstrum, Cantwell etc. The fact that SG got us competing so quickly proved how much of a manager he was and bar 10 years experience I see very little difference between Clement and SG. For him to inherit what he did to winning 55 and building the base of Seville team proves my point. I don’t know if people are hurt but the way he left but if Clement wins the league the sad fact is that the first Villa or Everton etc like team that comes in for him and it will be the same result

Heart and Hand

But when he arrived he was a novice. His first match as a manager was with us. He grew into a good boss but it took time, understandably. PC is the first who arrived who isn’t primarily a coach (Gio, Warburton) or a learner (Gerrard, Beale).

Dougie Latta

I get that point but all the more reason for saying he was a proper manager given the lack of experience. Every manager is surely learning all the time including Clement so i feel like people are somehow decrying SG achievement now and Clement coming along is like 2018 till 2021 never happened. No way does Clement (or any other manager) win the league in 2019 or probably 2020

Andy Barnett

Appreciate your point Dougie. The point I tried to make was that with Gerrard there was much of a global star worshipping and excitement which totally lifted the place. What Clement has brought is the ready made figurehead which players and fans have gravitated to with trust and comfort. Taking nothing away from Gerrards achievement, but they are different types of managers in my opinion.

Heart and Hand

I love what SG did for us, but I think (most people anyway) mean this is the first time we’ve appointed a proper, experienced manager since Walter. That’s not a reflection on Gerrard’s stint, just a fact.

Dougie Latta

Yeah agree on that point there was that star quality with SG but he also showed a lot of the same qualities as Clement. I am still not sure that experience makes him different

John Palmer

I get what you're saying but let's face it. PC is far better than SG who took 3 yrs to win 1 Trophy (An Important 1 I know) where as PC was here less than 3 months and delivered Silverware already and is most likely to go on and win a potential Domestic Double or Treble. SG was a figurehead whereas PC is a driving force which is where the comparisons of Walter Smith comes into it.

Dougie Latta

It’s not a fair comparison when PC gets to play a final against a poor Barry Robson team. SG was not just figurehead, look at what he did in Europe and left us 6 points clear in league. His first team had McCrorie, Murphy, Windass starting, guys like Declan John and Ejaria on bench. He also came up against a better Celtic team than this one

David Innes

The Hibs game at Easter Road was the one that completely cemented my belief in Clement. A difficult away fixture right after the winter break and we just swotted them aside

Heart and Hand

Gerrard got to play St Mirren and St Johnstone in the Cup his last full season Dougie. I think you make very fair points but belittling PC's achievement in winning the cup actually hinders your argument because it highlights SGs disappointing cup record, even when he had built a good side.

John Palmer

I love it when other Teams in the League come with the notion it could be a hard task. It's needed in our game where we have more than just 2 Teams completely dominating, having other Teams step up to threaten us and Them can only be seen as a positive, never as a negative as long as the effort is spread evenly across the rest of the Teams rather than adopting the Mattress on the back apprpach playing certain Team's. I'm right now more confident of a bounce back to a defeat or a draw rather than how we reacted Pre Clement. We'll drop points but Them over there will drop more, Stats don't lie, just look at them.

Billy Forrester

Jeso Dougie, has PC shat in yer cornflakes. Be happy mate, we are top of the league and have a proper manager now. U obviously hero worshipped Gerrard, fair enough. I know who I prefer and he speaks Belgian 👍

Dougie Latta

Don’t have to prefer one over the other and if you were to take time to understand the angle I am coming from then you would see that. To paraphrase DE, you can hold 2 views at the same time i.e massive respect for both, and still be ok with that. I didn’t hero worship anyone, I am a bit old for that. And big Phil wouldn’t do that to anyone’s cornflakes, too much class for that

Billy Forrester

Gerrard did good things however he was in my opinion ready to walk from us at the first opportunity and I would have respected him more if he had not left mid season. I think SG was more about him and he loved the spotlight and focus whereas PC is a team player and it’s club first. SG also was under huge pressure at points as we were woeful at times , I think we have a far more rounded and experienced manager now and I am very happy with PC, just hope he hangs around for a few seasons however if he wins a treble this season there will certainly be admiring glances towards him and that’s to be expected

David Innes

Clement turned down interest from Saudi to come to us - for me that sums up the difference in character of the 2 men. I’m grateful to Gerrard for 55 but he should have won a lot more

Gary Brown

Thanks for the Extra pod Cammy and very ably assisted by James & Andy, thanks lads. A good show looking back at key matches in Clement's reign, which is still, after all, in it's infancy. Nice to analyse and highlight the progression. Really is time for folk to put this 'oh poor me and my scar tissue' guff in the bin though. The past is past. This is Clement's Rangers now. His standards and expectations are clearly laid out and non negotiable. The development and advancement of the players and style of play style is obvious. And he's only just got started!

David Clapperton

Int it brilliant that after all these years Andy’s dug hasn’t picked up an accent. 🐶🤌🏻

Graham Roy

Agree with Andy about next 2 games. I would also add if we can increase the gap to a point where the old firm games don’t matter it increases the pressure on that lot which will only help us!

Andy Barnett

Adopted from a kibbutz near Gaza, abandoned on October 7th. She understands Newton Mearns and rocket siren

Ryan Lynch

Andy's dog heard we were closer to Hearts than Celtc at that point in time and was raging.
