Today, we embark on our 3rd FULL BTS ALBUM REVIEW!! 💿 💿 💿

BIGHIT provided a beautiful description of “SKOOL LUV AFFAIR” on their website:

“With their previous two albums, 2 COOL 4 SKOOL and O!RUL8,2?, BTS sang about the dreams and happiness of teens. The songs spoke about young people living without a dream and schools that force rigid and homogenous thought onto its students. The new album, released on February 12, 2014, continues to focus on school and teens. As hinted by the title, SKOOL LUV AFFAIR, the album’s main theme is the love that blossoms in the school. 

This album is a culmination of the “School Trilogy” project that discusses the topics of most interest to teens their own age—dreams, happiness and love. Such penetrating insight into the hearts and minds of young people led to the absolute support that BTS has received from fans their age. The members again directly participated in the making of the songs, vowing to ensure that the songs reflect the reality of the music fans of their own generation.”

you have heard suga say it before, idk if it´s the same skit you heard. but he also said it when V was blindfoldet and moved his butt into suga´s face and then thought it was Jin and suga said i will kill you. i think he also said it in an interviews at some point. but i can´t rememeber

Intro: skool luv affair is one of my favorite songs from the rapline. It's so good and JOON!? OMG I lovee his verse. The song is so good and creative. So creative and THEM.

i think you should react to wings album like you did here. and after that make a reaction for all the live performance because wings was just magical. especially when you watch it all together in a concert video. you can watch it on weverse i think. when you do get to wings they also have another doco serie about their tour called burn the stage movie and serie.

Great reaction! What I love about Intro: Skool luv affair is basically all the stuff you said in the video. I love the style changes and the intensity of the lyrics. It's one of the songs I always listen to on my way to work because Hobi's verse makes me smile and the end of the song gives me a lot of energy. I'm glad you liked it too.

Yeah in the intro he meant “they could never slow me down), you were right Jordan. And as for the sour/refreshing thing it’s like in English how we might say something is “cold” in certain dialects like AAVE, but we don’t mean cold 🥶 we mean cold 💯 lollll. So he means refreshing, it’s just that he uses a word that typically means sour outside his dialect.

Yes, when you were watching the first episodes of The Rise of Bangtan, either the ep or the deleted scenes, you saw the same skit and that Suga quote was there, it was months and months ago and it is just as funny then as it is now <3

In regards to Boy in Luv, It’s not necessarily one of my favorite BTS songs. I’m more into their R&B stuff, but I do like it amongst their more rock type songs. And having watched their MV here, it does look somewhat juvenile. But I have to say (as if this doesn’t come up enough 😄) when I saw them perform this song on the 2019 MAMAs, I liked it a lot more. Like idk how to explain it but it was so much more… 🤔.. grown??and sophisticated? Idk lol. Anyway, maybe if you guys watch that performance, along with the other songs, you’d like it too 😉

I'd love it if you guys could add some live performances to some of the songs in the album. I understand reacting to the song itself and then deep diving into the lyrics takes up a good portion of the video and ofc of ur time, but live performances honestly just add so much more to the song itself. Most songs are arguably better live tbh!! I hope we could watch some together maybe in part 2 or in a separate reaction when you can 💜

Aaaah finally! Where you from is so underrated. I always picture it in my mind as suga and j-hope flirting with the same girl, it's such a fun song but the progressive message behind hits as hard as paldogangsan. I think it's hard for us to truly understand the impact of "regionalism" in Korea - that is, the prejudice against different regions and particularly the Gwangju vs Busan/Daegu feud. The back and forth between suga and j-hope and rm coming through at the end with "it's all love, North to South everybody loves" perfectly reflect the narrative of Paldogangsan but with a lighter spin. In the BTS book that just came out (you really need to get your hands on it, it'd be so useful for where you're at in the journey btw!) j-hope talks a bit about regionalism and how he experienced discrimination being from Gwangju for the first time when he came to Seoul. It's such an interesting topic to me, and you'll see more of it in the absolute banger Ma City, in HYYH! 💜💜💜

Possibly one of the times you heard and remembered it from could be the past reaction on Chapter 4 of TRoB Deleted Scenes & Bonus Content, the same skit from this album was part of the bonus content 😂 (Sorry, I had to reaffirm this before posting, so I believe you can check it out around the 58min mark from your past reaction) 💜💜 Thank you for this! I will always be sad that there will forever be controversy surrounding this album because Boy In Luv was misunderstood. A song that was meant to represent the rawness and excitement of young love was misconstrued into a song that objectified women (something that both men and women are victims of doing when first seeing someone as it's a human reaction). This album is a guidebook for teens on how to deal with some heavy emotions during a very confusing time and remains very underrated. It shows the humility and seriousness they have in their art because even though they felt they may have been innocent of objectifying women and most of their fans felt they were as well, they still took steps to improve themselves and their art. That's role model material!
