Yea just give it time tbh, it's fate so it's gonna be overwhelming but you'll be able to piece things together overtime, especially since you have experience with the franchise.

Basics, New girl is our “protagonist” as stated by the guy overseeing the universe in ep 0. Everyone expected saber from the other fates to show up and break the rules of the “fake” grail which shouldn’t have a saber at all. Instead this guy appeared, still breaking the rules but no one knows who that is yet. At the end, the church is sending over a priest to over see the war now that they know it’s happening (the overseer in the other fate series is the guy they went to forfeit and seek protection if their servant died and they quit.). Everything else is developing still, your being given clues. Enkidu of legend is Gilgamesh’s best friend created as a sort of anti-Gil by the gods, but he ended up just chillin with Gil after he was sent to earth. (My best interpretation, I’m sure a history nut will explain it better). Love this series so far, I haven’t read the source stuff so I’m catching up on things myself week to week

As you pointed out Ayaka kinda looks like saber. This is literally just a coincidence don’t think to much about it, Nasu( writer of Fate) likes re-using character models so if you watch other fate series you’ll see characters who look just like other characters from a different Fate series even though those characters have no connection to each other. Since this is episode one you should still be confused about things since the stage hasn’t even been set, but for some clarity Faldeus( us government dude) and Francesca( purple hair loli) seem to be the masterminds behind this Grail war being held in America. Orlando( the police chief and master of caster) has some sort of alliance with them. Lord El Melloi( waver from fate zero) is talking to the man who Faldeus killed in episode 0. We know he didn’t actually die bc that was just a doll and not his main body. Waver claims something is off with the grail war in going on in America like how the saber class is missing in this war. Although at the end of the episode saber gets summoned Waver isn’t dumb so he wouldn’t say that for any reason. We see Francesca laughing as saber is being summoned, she has something to do with it. Although she was expecting king Author to be summoned which isn’t what happened. Imma end my comment here and wait for the other episodes b4 I continue

I have no idea who caster is but the teeth and outfit make me think he's George Washington
