I love the picture you painted with Nolan's actions returning to Earth being inhuman. It feels like ever since the Thaxan holiday he spent after the shit show on Earth that the thousand year old man learned what forgiveness was. But he's Viltrumite where even the mere NOTION that he's changed or even cares about others made him freak out. Forgiveness is a beautiful thing but Nolan has never known th= value o anything not thought of as strength. The reactions of the aliens he was apologizing to showcased that. They're conquerers, tyrants drunk on strength and power like their very names could make the stars shutter. It was very satisfying seeing Nolan get chewed out and being made to to see the perspective of those he hurt. He's imitating being human, trying on forgiveness like it's a new hat or that ice cream badge and not the drawn out process. Like it's not work, like it's something to just get over with, another assignment for the off planet Viltrumite. It feels like brilliant in some ways for how much blood Nolan has on his hands that learning to hold what he holds precious without breaking being the greatest sign of strength. To know that the bonds you've made aren't based on misguided views of strength without the connection to know what it means.
