At the end of 2022, a photographer friend asked if I would join him in early summer for a week in Ibiza with Tezz and Anato (whom I didn’t know at the time). Before this trip, I had only ever done short shoots with the models I worked with; you meet for a few hours, have 15 minutes of small talk, take photos, and then go your separate ways. And sometimes those three or four hours are the only hours you ever share in a lifetime.

This week in Ibiza was completely different. Because we didn’t just shoot for seven days, but also lived together, cooked, talked, and spent the entire day side by side, a completely different mutual understanding emerged. What moved me most was the deep connection Tezz had with Ibiza (where she had lived for several years, but had left a few months before our shoot).

Until now, I had shown only a few images from that week, because in the months after the trip I was so overwhelmed by the memories that it was hard for me to choose. My later idea to publish a book about that week was gradually overtaken by the realization I came to much later: collaboration in photography can go much deeper, and Ibiza was above all the initial spark that still resonates today. Before, I mainly wanted to make great images; after that week, the people became what mattered most to me - and the greatness of individual images was no longer a goal, but became secondary and faded further into the background.

The series I’m sharing today was the last one we photographed during that week in Ibiza.
