Portrait Series - Melio (Patreon)

working process

This is the first realistic portrait that I have done this year, what is quite a shame. I always have some kind of invisible barrier of fear (that I will totally fail) before starting, which leads to the point where I can't stop working until I believe that the picture will turn out good. For Melio it took me quite some hours till that point (to be honest until I did his beard, which was the second last step), before that I was living in constant fear xD. I guess this is why I am now very relieved that he turned out the way I wanted and I guess he was also the impuls that I needed to start doing colorations again. Now I am almost looking forward doing the next projects xD theres only one thing left... I realized over the last pictures, that they always look bad until I add the beard... this is either a personal thing or... I probably have to consider dwarf women as soon as I am going to do some females ^-^

character depth

Melio is an OC of my fictive world robinia. He is the general commander of the robinian army, getting his job trough... well, his highborn wife  the other way round works just as fine. He is eager, loyal, and often stubborn (as are quite many men I recognized :]). There will also come a halfbody shot soon, showing some of his training routine (I know it sounded nasty. Pun was intended, and you won't be disappointed)
