Hey guys!

Here is my reaction to the documentary of Blackpink! I'm not sure when I will upload this on YouTube because since it's on Netflix, it's impossible to upload unless you put like 1000 cuts in there. So it will be here for now!

I can't lie, I'm super glad I watched this documentary instead of a guide on YouTube. I was quite immersed and I felt like I got to really know the members with their interviews etc. I saw snippets of their childhood and how it felt like for them growing up as a trainee, so that felt really nice.

I feel so sad but also very proud of them. They gave up their childhood for this. The countless hours of training. They are so tired. And it hurts to see so much hate not only outside of the fandom but also WITHIN the Blink fandom. Let the girls live. They are just humans. Imagine having such a schedule like they do, I would never be able to do this :(

So yeah, this was a fun watch! Thank you so much for suggesting this to me. It was perfect <3

One of these 9 Girls was Miyeon from Idle.

Dave

One thing to remember is that Jisoo has both a bit odd of a sense of humor and speaks very bluntly. I don't think she meant the comment about being called ugly to be as mean as it sounds... I take it more as her older siblings teased her sometimes. And if you've ever seen her sister ( https://www.instagram.com/jiyyoon_s2/ ), she is arguably even prettier than Jisoo.

Dave

I don't remember what happened to all the other girls, but the 2 I know of are Miyeon from I-dle and Jinny from Secret Number.

Rosé's album is exactly what they described in this documentary. Each song has its own story, and together they all come together to reflect a part of Rosé's life. It's really nice to listen to all the songs one after the other and understand Rosé's emotions. I don't know if it'll interest you. Jennie participated in a show called "My Name Is Gabriel" a few years ago, where they take a famous Korean person and make him live the life of a stranger to the world for three days. Her episode is really beautiful, funny, and moving, and I highly recommend you watch it. I downloaded it, and if you're interested, I can pass it on to you.

The song that Rose was singing that you asked about was the beat that became Jeon Somi's "What you waiting for"

There are 20-30 trainees overall but 9 were selected to form a group(kinda like The last evaluation except only 4 passed the test). Originally, the 9 members group were gonna be known as Pink Punk or Babymonster(fun fact!). One of them is Miyeon from (G)I-dle and the other 4 went the other paths. The song that rosé did and said she wants to keep it a secret eventually went to Somi under the title What you waiting for.

The tour in this was their 2019 Blackpinl In Your Area World Tour, their first world tour. They were going to follow it with another tour in 2020-2021, but Covid-19 hit so they didn't perform for a while. Then when they had their comeback with Born Pink in 2023, they had a massive world tour, the most successful tour by a Korean artist or group ever rivaling the kind of money and attendance that Beyonce and Taylor Swift had pulled in at that point. This tour also featured headlining performances at Coachella and BST Hyde Park, more firsts for any Korean artists. It was after Born Pink that their original contract with YG expired and as part of the negotiations, they gained control of their individual solo careers and agreed to take a year to pursue those goals before coming back as Blackpink with Jump, Deadline, and the latest world tour.

Love ur reaction to this. It was a beautiful documentary. The guide is more like u can see their personalities more too if you wanna see it. It is really unnecessary all the HATE they receive for their every single move. But our girls are strong they don't really look on the hate now. Cannot wait for ur next reaction.

Loved this reaction <3 Here I go with my wall of text again.... The dog is Jennies dog Kuma (who is friends with Jisoos dog Dalgom) They also had a feature with Selena Gomez called "Ice Cream" (there is also an MV) In my opinion all Blackpink B Sides are worth listening to, but if I had to choose my top ones that you haven't reacted to yet, they would be: - Pretty Savage (The Album) (the song playing at the end) - Crazy over you (The Album) - Typa Girl (Born Pink) - The Happiest Girl (Born Pink) - Tally (Born Pink) - Don't Know What To Do (Kill This Love) - Kick It (Kill This Love) - Forever Young (Square Up) ....and I now realize that I basically listed half their B Sides.... Maybe for their solos (at least the first ones) you could do a Youtube video with 4 Songs, one for each (their first ones), so Jennie "Solo", Rosé "On The Ground", Lisa "Lalisa", Jisoo "Flower". That would work for a few videos, depending on if you want to include only MVs or also audio only tracks. Jennie definitely deserves her own video, there are so many MVs from her Ruby Album and the songs are all soo good <3 If you like Teddy's style of music and producing, you should check out Jeon Somi (ex. I.O.I, now solo) and MEOVV (relatively new group, but very talented and their MAMA performace (as Rookies!) from 2024 is legendary).

I'm heeeere 🙏🇧🇷 Loooove this documentary 💙 React to BlackPink Guide 2023 (no solo spoilers) 💙

They're sooo amazing. I'm so proud

Blackpink is the group that got me into kpop. They changed my life in such a positive and meaningful way. Seeing all of their success as individuals and as a group fills me with joy. I wish them all nothing but happiness. Thank you so much for reacting to Blackpink and thank you to Kim Jisoo, Kim Jennie, Park Chaeyoung, and Lalisa Manobal.

Hi thanks for your reactions, I have a suggestion, if you have a time ( because is too long) you can react to the podcast CALL HER DADDY with Rosé. I appreciate so much.

Finally!! I was waiting on this one! And just to clear it up, the In Your Area tour (2019) wasn't their last tour before taking time off for their solos. They came out with their first full album ( The Album) in 2020 and then their 2nd Album Born Pink which they followed with the Born Pink tour ( 2022- 2023 ). Then they took the break after they negotiated their contracts and worked on their Solos. Then after putting out their solos they came out with jump and started the Deadline world tour.

this is such a strange comment wtf? whats ur deal 😭

아린 ♡

rosie really is such a deep person. shes very good at expressing her feelings and doesnt seem shy to admit certain things that other people may be shy to admit. cant wait for u to do an album reaction of her album "rosie" if you ever do it, its a very special album to her as she opened up alot about things shes been through in the past like 5 or so years and after you react to that, whenever you do- her interview on the "call her daddy podcast" would be amazing for u to react to aswell! shes definitely opening many doors for idols with the subjects she openly speaks about :)

Dave

It wasn't meant in a bad way at all. Maybe I just wrote it poorly. I only meant that I doubt her family treated her as bad as it comes across in the video, and I don't thinks she meant it that way either. I think she meant it more as a joke. Jisoo is actually my bias.

아린 ♡

rora from bm really reminds me of jisoo. they're both a visual of their group, they both have a deeper voice, they both are so underrated (in my opinion), both are so naturally funny, both are very unfiltered & both have such actress vibes! and i soo agree with what ur saying at the end. nobody has the right to judge. ESPECIALLY when they arent in the insane positions that the people they're judging are. the parasocialness in the kpop industry is genuinely scary at this point. especially with jennie haters. speaking of bm, ahyeon really reminds me of jennie. both seen as the all-rounders of their group and one of the most popular members but also the most hated. whats even crazier is jennie used to get bullied for trying to outshine her group and now they hate on her for the opposite. (which is the same thing happening to ahyeon rn)

You'd be correct in assuming the other girls that were a part of the 9 member group they had, did not become successful, well all except 1: Miyeon. Miyeon left YG one year before Blackpink's debut and was the last one out of the 5 to leave. Then 3 years later in 2018, she debuted as the main vocalist of IDLE (previously known as (G)I-DLE). You can find many photos online of just her and the 4 members. From what I know, they're are all still close with her, especially Lisa since she's also friends with Minnie (IDLE's Thai member). IDLE are arguably considered one of the pillars of early 4th Gen and they're one of the few girl groups that are almost entirely self produced. They started off small, but over time their popularity in Korea grew exponentially. At one point they were so big that they topped the Korean charts 3 comebacks in a row. A first for a 4th Gen girl group at the time (iirc). Side note: There was also a girl named Jinny who debuted in a group called Secret Number. From what I remember they had a promising career at the beginning, but unfortunately faded into obscurity like many small company groups tend to do so.

I attended the Born Pink Concert on the 19.12.2022 in Berlin, it was awesome. I have never been to a more lovely and mindblowing concert in my life <3

Hey, LOVED your reaction! I automatically subscribe to anyone who watches LIGHT UP THE SKY as the reactions to it are few and far between, can't wait to watch your BABYMONSTER content! There are so many real BLINKS in the comments who answered half of the questions that I made a list of, here are a few more: 1) The video of young Jennie in New Zealand was from a television documentary about S. Koreans learning English while living in foreign countries. 2) Teddy Park, BLACKPINK’s writer/producer, was not in the BABYMONSTER series. If you look at the beginning of the documentary you’ll see the sign THEBLACKLABEL at the entrance, which is Teddy Park’s label. He had formed THEBLACKLABEL as his own label and was a subsidiary, but left YG Entertainment in 2020, although they are still “affiliated”. BABYMONSTER is the first YG girl group that was not produced by Teddy. Teddy also manages Rosé’s Korean-based activities only. 3) At the Coachella segment a woman says “We are skipping WHISTLE and STAY, she was just referring to the dress rehearsal as there is limited time allotted to each artist to rehearse. 4) Jennie asking for eye drops before Coachella was actually very smart. Coachella is held in a desert valley and is known for hot wind and sand blowing through it constantly. If you watch this KILL THIS LOVE Rosé fancam at Coachella you’ll see the wind pick up halfway through the song (the video went viral): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rd-nlloznQQ

Sascha

Teddy is a former 1st gen kpop idol turned producer under YG who then built his own label The Blacklabel. He produced all of Blackpink's albums up until recently and also just won a Grammy & Oscar as one of the producers of Golden from KpopDemonHunters.

Thanks so much for this one, could you please check out Rosé on the show Call Her Daddy? It posted right before she appeared on the Grammys. it's long but great, a deep dive into BLACKPINK's training and Rosé's recent years, including very open discussion about her toxic relationships: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1LBd_QP4W0 (and of course there's food!)

After they released this documentary, a lot of kpop groups started releasing documentaries as well. They really are trendsetters. There are 20 to 30 trainees. Blackpink was planned to have 9 members and their name was supposed to be Pink Punk. But then they cut it to 5, and then 4. The 5th girl that was cut, Miyeon, debuted with another kpop group, (G)I-DLE. She had remained good friends with the girls, especially Lisa.
