Hey everyone!

What an absolute fever dream of a live performance was that HAHAH

I also watched the MV it's here if you want to watch the reaction: https://youtu.be/KE0Jowqoh3Y

I'm not a fan of Heavy Metal music tbh but I love watching their performances. There is just sth so nice about it. Idk if its the audience or the atmosphere, it's super mesmerizing!

And even tho I dont listen to this type of music, I can really get why people love Babymetal. The energy they bring is insane and their concept is just so fun hahah

I'm thinking about creating a Japanese reation channel soon, where we do Japanese music instead! Just hoping it fits into the schedule somehow oooof

The title refers to the year Su-metal was born (1997) and that was the concert in 2013 for her 16th birthday (yes, headbanger is a birthday song) and this concert separates Babymetal Idol group from Babymetal Band metal (for more information I suggest you see the guide). If you're curious to hear the other two girls sing a big part of the song, I recommend you also check out the other two versions of this song that I sent you (and spoiler the crowd is a lot more involved, there is a reason because online you see a lot of Babymetal fans writing we are not a cult), if you have time tomorrow. I promise next time I'll send you a lighter song. I hope you will enjoy all the incredible japanese artist I will suggest to you for the new channel

The title tells you what concert the performance is from In the early days, significant concerts were titled with "Legend". This was Legend 1997, the setensei (birthday festival) for Su for her 16th birthday. Earlier in 2013 there was a Legend 1999 concert for Yui and Moa as they turned 14. The costumes of the band come from Kabuki theater, this is how spirits are dressed in Kabuki, and where Sadako's look also comes from. Kami = spirit more or less. The gong is an homage to X-Japan, the Metallica of Japan if you will. X used to close their show by striking a gong and collapsing on stage. The statue in the back is an homage to Metallica, and the mic stand Su swings is an homage to Freddie Mercury of Queen. Babymetal is big on honoring bands that inspire them. A few months after this performance Babymetal would release their debut album. All the craziness here is before they had a record out.

Babymetal is kawaii metal (so Japanese adorable/cute culture metal), easier to do when they are girls, but they have a more mature kawaii now.
