I thought the TV series was slightly better, and the casting of Colin Firth as Darcy was perfect. But this was a good rewatch. IMDB rated it 8.8 compared to 7.8 for the movie, not that I take the ratings seriously 😃

This isn't the type of movie that I usually watch. It was beautifully shot. I love that scene with Elizabeth on the swing with the sound of the rain and the song "The Secret Life of Daydreams" playing in the background. It was peaceful. Mrs. Bennet is a wild one, she's obsessed with making sure her daughters get married. And it must be a lot of pressure on her to make sure that her daughters are provided for when she's gone. It's sad because women didn't have a way to provide for themselves, they had to marry for security and protection. And how many of them were lucky to find love. It's like when Charlotte told Elizabeth that she's marrying Mr. Collins. "Not all of us can afford to be romantic. I've been offered a comfortable home and protection. I'm 27 years old. I've no money and no prospects. I'm already a burden to my parents. And I'm frightened." I love what you said about Mr. Darcy. "You gotta find that priceless person." I wasn't sure how to take Mr. Darcy until he told Elizabeth. "I do not have the talent of conversing easily with people I have never met before." He wants to talk to her so much, but he can't. Some people make it look so easy. I thought this ended beautifully. In the morning we see Elizabeth walking through the fields with the sounds of the wee birds chirping, and in the distance she sees Mr. Darcy walking towards her. I love what he says. "If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me at once. My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I would have to tell you, you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love... I love... I love you. I never wished to be parted from you from this day on." It's beautiful when Elizabeth is talking to her father about Mr. Darcy and you can see just how much she loves him. I love what you said at the end. "I think it's really magical when people find their equal in life. I think that that's one of the true forms of magic in this world. If there's anything like a miracle. It is that." It's so beautiful the way talk. I hope you find your equal in life. You have so much love in your heart. You're a bonnie lass. <3
