This is my favorite of the beginning episodes. A focus on Simmons and her job on the team. Before this you don't know how important she is until you almost lose her. So heartfelt and you really feel the desperation from the team. Agent Blake at the end scene actually appears in the one shot item 47 before this. It is on Disney plus as well. Congrats you passed the Lola test. If you tell Blake not to touch Lola that means you are part of the team now. It's just a funny thing. Many reactors response to him touching the car negatively.

This is a very intense episode and, like many others is the one that got me hooked on this show. It starts of much like the others as a 'case of the week' episode which seemingy ends when Coulson gives a very empathetic speach to the dying firefighter only for it to veer off at a tangent when Simmons is also found to be affected. All well and good they can't possibly kill off a main cast member this early...but Joss Whedon (co creator) is well known for killing main characters at any time! What makes it even more impactful is that we have not spent much time with Fitz & Simmons, they've always been in the background as kinda the comic relief of the show. But FZZT brings them front and centre and their friendship shines through even to the point that they mirror one another several times (mimicing Ward, both say Chitauri at the same time etc). And for Simmons, who failed her firld assessment test, to willingly sacrifice herself for the sake of the team...OMG! Loved Papa Coulson scolding Simmons for jumping without permission, Ward for jumping after her, Skye for showing how much she cares by hugging her & Fitz for being there the whole damn time! Got to also mention the acting as everyone, including the actor playing Tony Diaz, brought their A-game but props to Elizabeth and Iain for making us care and cry for characters in the sixth episode of a show!

The agent with the grey hair Blake was in Supernatural, he was one of the 4 horsemen, he played War. As Christopher pointed out below he's in "Item 47" a 12 minute marvel short film. According to Wikipedia, Item 47 convinced the head of Disney to green light Agents of Shield. Agent Blake, Titus Welliver is a great actor. He usually plays guest stars but the actor got his own series on Amazon called Bosch which aired from 2014-2021. It was a really good detective series.
