Now this, this is a fun episode. Supernatural was on the CW network, and while I think it was popular I don't think it got the viewers that the other networks were puling in. Netflix really helped people find out about this show. I think Jared and Jensen are really good friends in real life, but there's so many other shows where the actors hate each other I think they just thought that would be funny if Jared and Jensen didn't like each other. By season six Eric Kripke was less involved with Supernatural, the show he was working on at this time was "Revolution" on NBC which lasted 2 seasons 2012-2014. I remember it being interesting. But he eventually did "The Boys" which I think you watched some of. The lady that they are talking to on the speaker phone is probably supposed to be the new showrunner who took over after Eric Kripke left. The director who gets shot is played by Brian Doyle-Murray, Bill Murray's brother. I think the really meta thing the showrunners are acknowledging is that after season 5 it's difficult to figure out where the show is going.

Also you haven't seen The Godfather? That's a classic.
