This movie rocks. Yeah Constantine is part of DC, and occasionally will help Batman/Superman and the justice league against supernatural/magic enemies. Also that bald priest looked familiar. He played Superman's dad Pa Kent in the Superman movie that just came out. His performance in that is so good. There was actually a Constantine tv series on NBC in 2014 that only lasted a season but was pretty good. Matt Ryan who played Constantine in that series actually went on to play Constantine in the many CW network DC superhero shows like Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow. Also that actually was actress Michelle Monaghan for that one line. I had to look it up to be sure. Good catch. According to imdb 2005 seems to be the year she started getting famous, with "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" being her big break that same year. And yes to answer your question, confession to a priest is protected by law in most of America. There's some special exceptions, but it's kind of like talking to a defense attorney. And yeah, the crucifixion is a big part of Catholicism, they loved to guilt us all about how Jesus took one for the team, for us all. But the resurrection is also big part of Catholicism, but it's now shown on tv and movies the way the crucifixion is. So yeah, Catholicism does have a lot of morbid imagery, but there's some none morbid stuff in there too, like the resurrection, which does actually get a lot of focus in church.
