Don't know if you will see this comment but I wanted to talk about what you said about your male friends. Men and women have different way of thinking about relationships and friendships because of our roles in dating. Men don't approach women to be friends only. That is not how it usually works. If you are attractive to that man why would he just want to be friends and not more? He doesn't know when the next girl will be interested in talking and bonding with him. If you are not attractive to him why would he approach you in public. Most women don't like men bothering them and definitely would not believe man approached them just to be friends. Usually the women have to set that boundary and reach out first in this case. Women will talk with men and women with no intent to be more than friends because you have many outlets if you want intimacy or emotional vulnerability even if it is not with a partner. Your girl best friends can usually fill that role. Men rarely have outlets even with their male best friends and usually they reserve that for their partner so if a man feels like your best friend he has to be in a mindset of at least thinking of you as a possible partner or he would not be a best friend or as emotionally vulnerable enough to be considered your best friend. Some women know their male best friends like them that way and they allow them to do boyfriend things without ever crossing that boundary but the male then feels used and that is when problems happen. Which is why males should only do it with their partner. Basically if you have a male best friend that is not gay and he doesn't have a girlfriend he at some point considered you a option.
