Daddy Vader’s here This is the first time Maul and Vader have ever fought on screen. Techincally ever. A comic from Legends had them fight but it was never confirmed if it was really him, possibly a clone or an imposter. And it was also before his return in clone wars •Maul in Rebels said he couldn’t defeat Vader alone (implying he possibly fought him before). And we see now how much he meant that. •They were originally supposed to have a fight in Rebels but they realized it would be one fight too many, take up too much, and Ahsoka and Vader had priority It’s roughly a few years after EpIII, so Vader hasn’t been all that present in the galaxy, or he hasn’t left many alive to tell about him. Maul knows almost nothing about him by this point. In Clone Wars S7 he did learn through a vision that Anakin is who Palpatine wanted to be his new apprentice, and he had wanted to lure him to Mandalore to kill him to prevent that, but Ahsoka came instead. He never learned what happened to him after, possibly assumed he died in the purge. He does appear to connect the dots in one moment There’s Vader jumpsacres because they intentionally made him like Michael Myers and Jason Vorhees 😂 “He isn’t breaking a sweat” They made it a point to never have Vader make noises of effort to show how much he outmatched everyone We didn’t actually see Lawson die. And it seems very much like he saw Maul force push Daki. I think we could see Lawson come back and tell Devon, and that’ll make her turn on Maul “He’s so big too” For his design they went back to the muscular body type of bodybuilder David Prowse, who most often physically portrayed Vader in the original trilogy

They got the show green lit for Season 2 pretty early, so glad they did
