Nobody listens to her because she keeps making dumb rash decisions after jumping to wrong conclusions. "Korra is a young girl, feel sorry for her"... I do, but Ang was like 12 when he saved the whole world.

Yeah, Korra can be a little annoying at times but she is a very realistic character. Aang was a child monk, goofy and childish but also very wise beyond his years. He was this god-like savior. Korra is more like a regular and relatable teenager much like Zuko was in ATLA.

Aang was also 12 when he ran away and doomed the world to 100 year of war. Every avatar we've seen in this series has screwed something up badly.

Aang did indeed do a pretty bang-up job as a 12-year old. Though I do think Aang's situation was a pretty simple good vs evil situation. From the very beginning it was obvious that beating the Fire Lord and stopping the Fire Nation was the right path and he stuck on that path for three seasons. Korra's predicaments are more tricky and have less obvious solutions, so I give her more leeway. Aang did mess up in the smaller stories, but the fallout was usually so minimal that they don't compare to the mistakes Korra makes with the main plot.

Was season 1 of Korra a result of Aang’s mistakes? Could it have been avoided if Aang had executed Yakon rather than just take his bending?
