Really glad they gave us a mostly positive ending to this tough and trauma filled season. Bojack going above and beyond to figure out the truth about Henrietta is great and shows caring for someone other then himself. Glad PC has come to accept help from others in order to get out of that hard situation with Philbert. Its a shame it took being forced to accept Bojack's help to get her there instead of by compromising with Ralph or Judah. :/ Dianne and PB's ending scene was very divisive for a lot of fans upon first view. Its been a struggle to get their pieces of the puzzle to line up together in this relationship and they just can't seem to agree on what the final picture looks like.

The thing with Diane and PB is that she HAS told him that she doesn't like when he does that stuff. Remember S2 'After The Party'? And even S1's 'Our A Story is a D Story' where Bojack told and PB showed that he doesn't listen and doesn't understand her. PB is a great guy and he does have good intentions. The thing is, when it is just good intentions with no attempt to understand then it becomes a problem. The fight wasn't just about the room, that was just the final straw. Like Diane said, there relationship is great sometimes. But a relationship that is only great sometimes isn't a healthy one. The grand gesture isn't enough. You need to be consistent and dependable. Fights in a relationship are normal. But constant fights with no attempt at true understanding and just grand gestures is not good and is not fair to either of them. It's crazy. So many people predict from S1 that there would be a breaking point and even know what ot would be about. Yet we are still shocked because many of us grew to care about the relationship over these 4 seasons.

My thoughts on Diane and PB are like this. Someone says they don't want a gift, you do it anyway and they are clearly a bit annoyed. If that happens once it is no big deal, you thought they might have just been saying that, no real harm done. If you keep on doing that though it is a pattern that says you are not respecting their wishes. Diane has repeatedly told PB that she doesn't want these big surprises and gestures. He keeps up with it though, like his proposal, the surprise party, and now this renovation that she didn't ask for. This is on top of the way Diane rightly is held accountable for her actions while PB makes mistakes too and just moves on like it was just the next thing. She blamed herself for her marital problems while trapped underground because of her husband. Everything is telling her to leave but she desperately wants to stay. I think partially because she will see it as her fault even though the answer is more complex then that. Sometimes the best thing for everyone is to move on as hard as it can be.

Dune

It's hard for so many people to ask for help. I know I have that same thought process of feeling like a burden for asking someone for help. Plus I was raised like that by mom. She's someone who never asks people for help and she always told me not to trust people and people will let you down but as I get older I'm learning to ask for help more. PC by default seems like that strong, independent type but good for her for being able to start to ask for help.

I think you missed one of the most important moments of Mr. PB and Diane conversation when he said "Do you know much it costs to get 5000 FAKE BOOKS?". Fake books for a writer. It wasn't about making her dream come true, it was about "I did a nice thing, I'm a good guy". All his grand gestures were always excessive and "He's not a mind reader" statement isn't valid here - Diane told him multiple times she doesn't like big gestures, but he's done a surprise wedding, surprise birthday party and now the Belle room with fake books when she had clearly stated she never wanted any of this. Also, this season Mr. PB ran for governor and almost got them killed by doing fracking under their house so I think Diane has the right to be on edge :D The tragedy of this couple is that they were never meant to be together from the start, but were desperately trying to fix what was broken from the very beginning. Mr. PB just needs a person who is more close the his always-happy mood and whose main purpose in life is to have fun as it is for him

The fake book thing is also a good metaphor for what PB does. His gestures are good on the surface but it is all superficial.

I forget where I heard this, but someone had said: Real strength is knowing yourself enough to know where you're weak and ask for help. Little flippant and self-helpie but I think it fits part of PC's character arc well.
