The jedi are very much based on samurai so that's a good pickup. They are supposed to be defenders of peace, honorable, and use violence as a last resort. This show does a good job of questioning that and looking at different angles as the show goes on. So far you've had great examples of what jedi SHOULD be both in the movies (Qui-Gon) and in this show so far.

Little fact, one of the main writers for the show (at the time) Dave Filoni his favourite Animal is a Wolf so he made Plo Koon's Clone squadron Wolf based, you might notice the patterns on their helmets, which made Plo Koon his favourite Jedi
