Girl Mode #3: Jennifer's Body (feat. Fabiola Liaño and Saffron Hefta-Gaub) (Patreon)

Now a certified cult classic fifteen years after release, Jennifer's Body infamously didn't receive its due when it was released back in 2009. Doomed on arrival thanks to the incipient backlash against screenwriter Diablo Cody, the deeply entrenched cultural misogyny aimed at women like Megan Fox that was all the rage in the 2000s, and 20th Century Fox's terrible marketing campaign for teenage boys, the film finally received its feminist reclamation years down the line for its darkly humorous wit, monstrous metaphors for rape/sexual assault, queer (sub)text, and heartbreaking look at the disintegration of a female friendship thanks to a shitty indie rock band clout hungry for fame off the literal body of a young woman. To discuss this wonderful film we still think hasn't gotten enough $12 orchid flowers, Nicole is joined BOTH members of It's Giving Camp: 3x returning champion guest Fabiola Liaño (@fabiola_liano) and Saffron Hefta-Gaub (@GaubHefta), co-host of The Valkyrie Cycle, making her Marvelous! debut.
