WB-Discovery cancelled basically everything except their upcoming 'The Flash' movie, the basket in which the newly forged juggernaut of classic films, DC superheroes and 'Shark Week' has decided to put all their eggs? Ezra Miller. Once indie darling (alleged) turned blockbuster star (alleged) turned raving groomer psycho (alleged) turned messianic cult leader (alleged). Why, in the era of MeToo, has WB pinned their fate on a powderkeg combination of Jim Jones and FF7haus? We don't know, but we're going to find out* in this 'Marvelous!' special celebrity gossip true crime investigation.

Great episode. The announcement of this episode was the reason I subbed. Ezra is a strange complex figure and despite the mischief of Chaos Stu, this episode approached the subject with delicateness and grace. A couple anecdotes I thought pertinent. To the extent we learned about Miller’s mental illness and his peculiar claim that he is the Flash incarnate, I thought back to Inarittu’s Birdman. There was a lot I disliked about the film upon release but after considering a lot of what was explored irt Miller I can see in a way how Birdman sort of predicted this particular psychosis. Another figure who bears mentioning here is Grant Morrison, my favourite comics writer when I was a kid. Grant’s influence on superhero comics and movies is huge, but I won’t go into that here. At one point Grant was working on one of the earlier iterations of The Flash movie script, and I know he met Miller during that. They possibly shared notes with each other on the script and story. I mention Grant too because much like was mentioned in the show, Grant too has been known for his practice of chaos magic. In his fictional works and in real life Morrison has spoken at large on the intricacies of time, space and even the multiverse. In short, there’s a pretty complex spiritual outlook he has on the world. But where this comes back to Miller and differs from Final Fantasy House, is if one reads Morrison’s work closely, Morrison is pretty explicit about our world being pretty firmly our world, and that you need to appreciate living here for what it is. Anyhow, while I’m trying my best to articulate that viewpoint, I’m not necessarily endorsing it, and I wonder to what extent Miller got the wrong ideas from Morrison on the nature of the universe from their conversations, or from Morrison’s books. Clearly, Miller was a pretty delusional person already. Last, and I hate that I know this, but to respond to Stu’s dispute that the Green Lantern is the rings guy, yes, but the Flash stores his superhero costume in his ring when he’s not doing superhero stuff. No it makes no sense in the comics either.
