Batman Returns (1992), or Catwoman Begins (Patreon)

Or: Tim Burton's The Penguin Before Christmas.

Better late then never, we take a look at the kinda sorta other Tim Burton Christmas movie. Written primarily by 'Heathers' scribe Daniel Waters, and positioned between Burton's Edward Scissorhands and Ed Wood - Returns eschews any loyalty to the source material in favor of a mix of PG-13 sexuality, camp, 90s feminism, expressionism and gothic romance that is far more interested in it's weirdo antagonists than it is in the titular hero - who appears in only two of the films first forty minutes. Come join us as we pick through and discuss the themes and production of this delightful oddity in the canon of superhero films and summer blockbusters. Watch this movie, and remember: It had happy meal toys.
