Nicole on Cole: The Devils (Patreon)

It's the movie the demons at Warner Brothers have tried to prevent you from seeing for over fifty years: Ken Russell's 1971 magnum opus The Devils, based on the book The Devils of Loudun by Aldous Huxley about the 100% fucked-up true story of doomed Catholic priest Urbain Grandier and the supposed demonic possession of a convent of Ursuline nuns in plague-ridden 17th century France. In celebration of breezing past $100 per month on Patreon, Nicole and Cole discuss the honorary gay film director Ken Russell, Vanessa Redgrave's delightfully abject performance, and the film's continuing legacy of censorship.

EPISODE NOTES:

This was recorded before Nicole got hit with the ban hammer for raising her tongue against Enemy of the Pod David Zaslav, but the pod Twitter account will continue the tradition of QTing the Criterion Collection for every month that goes by without an official announcement of a release of The Devils.

Sorry for the dog barking in the background. Nicole had her windows open because it's been disgustingly hot in Massachusetts this month.
