This time Cole got to pick the movie of discussion and chose Harmony Korine's controversial 2013 film Spring Breakers, a movie dumb Letterboxd teenagers are still calling a misogynistic claptrap ten years later. Not unlike Verhoeven's Showgirls or Starship Troopers, Spring Breakers was coldly received by people who should have had the brain capacity to recognize it's actually a trenchant satire of the early 2010s cultural zeitgeist and the evil trifecta of sex, violence, and wealth than form the Voltron that is American capitalism in the evilest state of them all, Florida. Highlights of this discussion include: James Franco being a weirdo, the Angel that is Britney Spears, and the Disney Pop Star Machine's disgusting cult of virginity (it really bums Cole out).
