Sore bones, weary feet, and eyes dulled by endless white—just as hope fades, a shimmer appears on the horizon. Steam curls skyward, hinting at a hot spring to soothe frostbitten skin and thaw frozen bodies. But the wilds are seldom kind. Is this a true haven of warmth or another peril cloaked in steam? Press on, but tread carefully—nothing in the frigid wilderness is as it seems.

Shimmering, crystal-clear waters rimmed with vibrant hues of orange, teal, and gold beckon wanderers with a deceptive warmth, while billowing steam rises as a beacon in the icy expanse. Beneath the inviting surface lies scalding water capable of melting flesh, its vivid colors a warning of extremophile bacteria that thrive in deadly conditions. A single misstep could lead to boiling agony or incurable infection—admire this natural wonder from afar, adventurers, for its beauty is a siren's call to disaster!

Notes:

  • Some pools are safe for touching or even swimming, depending on their temperature and chemical content.

  • The vibrant colors at the pool's edge come from bacteria thriving in and around the water.

  • These pools are often found in cold regions, making the safe ones popular gathering spots for locals.

  • The ground around the pools may have weak patches, posing a risk of falling through to a deadly fate.

  • Animals occasionally fall into these springs—one wrong step could lead to disaster.

  • Some pools are unstable, with geysers and bursts of boiling water being common hazards.
