I am so thrilled you now finally know what the Bad Wolf is all about and have seen the (first) regeneration of the Doctor. And though I loved Christopher Eccleston in his take on this role, David Tennant is still my favorite Doctor ever! I really hope you will also love the rest of the upcoming seasons.

#neverskip9 Can you believe there are people who tell new Doctor Who fans to literally skip this first season? Bonkers. Chris will always be my first Doctor. Also idk if you knew this but he played Maliketh (dark elf) in Thor 2

I think it's safe to say you're definitely a Whovian now! It's great to see how invested you already are after just one season. There's so much wonderful storytelling still ahead of you (and yes, probably a decent amount of tears too), I can't wait for you to continue this journey.

Christopher Eccleston gives an unforgettable performance here. The Doctor has spent this whole season lost in his trauma and grief over the time war and killing his own people. The arc comes full circle with the Doctor making a different choice this time. Seeing the emotional turmoil on Eccleston’s face as he agonizes over this decision is both gripping and hard to watch. It’s brutal. This is intercut with Billie Piper's devastating emotional performance. Rose isn’t worried about saving a race or trying to devise some great strategy against the daleks. Her one and only wish is to be there with the doctor- to save him if she can and if she can’t, to hold his hand as he dies. She'd give her life for either. It’s incredible that the fight to save the universe and the fight to hold the hand of someone you love while they suffer seem of equal consequence. The performances, composition, and directing are phenomenal and completely sell it. The weird thing about regeneration is that even though it is the ability for “the doctor” to continue indefinitely, it is a very real goodbye. You will soon see for yourself exactly what stays and what changes. But as a viewer, regeneration is always a cause for ugly crying and rest assured, I was right there with you. The first regeneration was in 1966 and the viewers had no idea it was about to happen or what it meant. It was devised as a way to keep the show going and my goodness did it work better than they could have hoped! The original footage of that whole story is lost, except for the regeneration itself. If you google “first doctor regenerates” there’s a 30 second clip of the transition itself with almost no context should you choose to experience it.

I've been watching since the 80s, minus of course, the years it didn't run, and have now seen every regeneration, it never gets any easier.

Bravo Charlie
