I loved you analogy with Highway to Hell as this song was written as a reaction to Stairway to Heaven, which is actually what they all did when they opened the 'doors' above the highway to escape to the upper city.

This is the first time we get a real description of what Gallifrey was like. At least by the memories of the Doctor. He has such love in his heart for his home, and the pain of losing everyone is still present after all this time. Rose may have helped him move on from his initial PTSD when he was Doctor Nine, but now that she's gone he's all alone again, and I think there's a part of him that feels like he'll never find a new "home" or be able to find peace. This is why this show is so damn good. You fall in love with this character, the Doctor, and it breaks your heart to see how much pain he goes through over and over and over again. I was crying just watching your reaction! ugh lol

The Macra are very old and quite obscure Doctor Who monsters from the 1960s era in the Classic DW Series, from the (sadly missing episodes) 2nd Doctor Serial 'The Macra Terror', there is a colour animated version of this story using the surviving audio that's available on DVD, you might like to check out one day.

This episode is a great critique on car-centric culture and our over reliance on cars. Especially in very recent years
