I agree that this is definitely my favorite special up to this point. The time science is utterly nonsensical but ultimately, that just adds to the charm. It's all supposed to be a jumbled fairytale of complex emotions and a little bit of magic. Melancholy and joy and beautiful, painful nostalgia. All the things Christmas should be. It's interesting to think about how 9 refused to sit down for a "family meal" at all, even with Rose. 10 was pretty spotty about it, you kind of had to twist his arm and occasionally he'd flee rather than deal with it. 11 is just... all in here. The first one through the door lol. I love that.

The actress for Abigail - Katherine Jenkins is a singer IRL, as you could tell from the episode, she has a beautiful voice.

This was a really well written episode. I love the lines "In 900 years of time and space, I've never met anyone who wasn't important before" and "Marilyn, get ya coat!". One of my favourites so far.

same, i think that first line is definitely special!

oh wow!!! i'm never sure whether it's the actor's real voice or not when it's such amazing singing, she really does have a beautiful voice

that is such a good point about the differences in the 9/10/11 doctors and sititng down for a family meal. i love that!

so excited to get into season 6, easily my favorite season

Martin

I post a meme of Matt Smith at the end of this episode saying 'We're halfway out of the dark' every winter solstice since this episode lmao It's a spectacular episode, so many beautiful and funny moments :)

I always think about when 10 says to wilf ‘look at you, not remotely important’ and then 11 says he’s ‘never met anyone who wasn’t important before’ 😂 great episode though
