Drake

the one word was explained but it seem you have missed her explanation she said "words are lies and truth is singular" so one word for the truth

Martin

When you watch Asylum of the Daleks and she says 'And remember..' and looks at the camera, at the time you're like wait why would you do that? But you come to find out in this episode it's a very fourth wall break of her looking at the audience and just going .. and remember me cause I'll be back! lol It's very cool.

Martin

Also lol'd at your reaction to the one word test, you're just there going 'Er, no I'll speak my truth in however many words I want thanks, don't you one word me!'

In the ep1 reaction when said hope to see more of here, we're all thinking "Spoilers!" however it was more confusing for us at the time because she had been announced as the new companion and that Karen & Arthur were going to be leaving the show, so to turn up in the 1st episode and then die left fans going "Eh? What?"

No one catches that Classic Loki and Magneto team up to freeze the world and wipe out humanity... In the classic era, companions came from everywhere: modern, future, past, alien...one was a Time Lady. But nuWho likes their modern companions. Maybe one day...

great reaction, I love this episode, and it has one of, if not my favorite scores ever, Clara's theme is just perfection

40:01 Clara has a lot of what...... 🤣 It's ok, I know what that means in your vocabulary. It's just, fyi that means something very different in the UK, and can often feel mildly weird hearing it in a different context. Australians use it the way you do as well. I grew up hearing it used that way in Aussie soaps. Then I got older and UK slang warped it's usage more so. Which makes it a little more jarring to hear. 🫢

Which was a good job on Moffatt's part, combatting the inevitable spoilers of casting announcements. Watching her die in the first episode had me thinking they had pulled a fast one on us. Seeing her coming back left me thinking "you did it again!" I just wish they could do something without spoiling the crap out of it in advance.

I have a confession to make - I didn't really enjoy the Christmas/Holiday specials until "The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe." I don't really count "The End of Time Part 1" as a Christmas special. However, this one and the next few are episodes I rewatch on occasion just on their own merits. I'm glad you realized who Clara was before the Doctor did. Not every reactor does. Most of us watching live did because of the BBCs casting announcements and Moffat's fake-out at the beginning of the series. I have another confession to make - I've been unsubscribing from Patreons left and right, but I had to see this reaction. Terrible impulse control on my part. I don't know how long I can stay here, but I really did love watching your reaction to this and the last episodes. There's so much good stuff coming up that I'll probably stick around a bit longer.

Also forgot to mention that I love how you do the timing videos. I don't know if adding the audio back in is on purpose, but it really helps with making sure I'm synced up properly.

LOL that makes me feel better that i at least recognized her before some others. and yes, i add the show with audio back in every 10 mins so people can resync!

emmereacts

her theme is really growing on me, i like it a lot!

emmereacts

oh that's interesitng about the classic era difference. i really would like a companion specifically from the past, though a future one would be cool too!

emmereacts

OHH that's very interesting! that's nice that you guys still got the surprise on watching it at release

You're not alone, I've also never been crazy about them. I think for me it's that they tend to feel removed from the main story, which makes sense, because the whole thing about Doctor Who Christmas Specials culturally speaking is that LITERALLY everyone tunes in to watch it in England, even people who don't regularly watch the show. So it's usually when they sort of mash down and even out the show for an average viewing audience.... But then like you said, there's ones like Season 4 that actually feel like they are part of a sort of drawn out season finale, and it's not the only time they do that either....so for me it's when they feel too removed from everything else that I just have a hard time caring - unless they are EXCEPTIONALLY well written, and there are a few of those - but some definitely don't make the cut for me.

I’ve watched you watch 7 seasons and 5 episodes of doctor who and I’ve never been as stressed as watching you not notice the biggest reveal for the first 40 mins 😭😭
