in the last episode of season 6 right at the end (not including the Christmas special). everything that happens in this episode is foreshadowed even the part of not being able to lie

The 12 regeneration limit was established during the classic era. Matt Smith had had his head shaved for a film at the time so was wearing a wig during this episode. Coincidently Karen Gillian was also wearing a wig having had her hair shaved for her role in Guardians of the Galaxy.

I said in the 50th that there was another Doctor that very closely matched Tom Baker for my favorite Doctor, you just hadn't met him yet. Well, here he is. lol Peter Capaldi caught my attention just from his publicity photos released after it was announced he'd be succeeding Matt Smith, which was August of 2013 and this episode didn't air until Christmas 2013, so we all knew it was coming, and when. I had been lamenting that all the Doctors since the reboot had been young and had their companions falling in love when them and I was REALLY hoping for an older actor to step in. I guess the producers had a similar idea. A lot of people had to get used to him at first, but I was hooked from his first episode. I also feel that this is a turning point for Clara where the writers really started finding her voice. Overall, to me, the Capaldi era is where NuWho is at it's peak.

No matter how many times you can watch an episode of doctor who, ones like this and where we lost Amy and Rory still get you even 12 years later. And yes the doctors final speech is very character and actor saying the same thing

Out of all the various Doctor's last lines, I think that "I will always remember when The Doctor was me" is my favorite. The reason the last 3 episodes have been so wild is cause they are the season 7 finale, the 50th special, and the X-mas special. And I believe the reason Galifrey couldn't just come back there and then is that all those ships would have immediately blown it up.

Your reaction of excuse me while I choke on my own tears is justified! lol I watched this when it first aired, must have seen this episode like 15/20 times now and it's impossible to not get emotional at that last ten minutes every time! Also love how Moffett basically got everything from all of Matt Smith's era into one episode, great stuff, From name of the doctor to this it's a hell of a way to go out!

Here comes the myth, the legend, the Doctor himself. Maybe takes a bit of getting used to, but to me Capaldi is the definitive version of the Doctor, like all the best qualities of other actors put in one person. Matt is close second tho, wonderful actor, was really sad to see him go.

As I've said with both past regenerations, it's absolutely okay to adjust to the new doctor on your own time. As you sort of said, eventually the doctor always becomes THE doctor. Just hang in there. I'm super excited to start season 8! There's some phenomenal TV coming your way:)

It's always sad but didn't Matt go out with a bang! And now Capaldi. If the T.A.R.D.I.S. has seat belts, strap 'em on.

same, i LOVED that line. i really love the layering of saying goodbye to a doctor with how we're saying goodbye to the Doctor and also the actor. it's a beautifully sad thing

“I will not forget one line of this. Not one day. I swear. I will always remember when the Doctor was me” this hit me like a truck when it happened, i bawled my eyes out, the Jarring instant transition was perfect because it gave me enough confusion to snap me out of it and pull me back to the moment, I hope you enjoy Peter as much as i did, Matt smith was my doctor at this point, i loved david, but Matt was the one who made me fall in love with the show, but Peter, Peter is now my favourite doctor, he is the one i think about when i think the doctor, but as always, the change is rough, but pushing through is worth it :) if nothing else, Peter has some of the best speeches that not only still impact today and are meaningful today, they are quotes and speeches of his i go back and watch often just because of how good they are! i hope you enjoy them too! great reaction as always, ive been waiting for these 3 episodes for a while, glad i finally got the time to sit down and watch these reactions
