I used to be able to pull these up at work and watch along during the slow hours, but now Doctor Who is gone off of HBO Max and I gotta wait till I get home...

You’re right about the fast talking, it gives this era so much rewatch value! You catch all the quips your brain didn’t pick up before. And yea, this era is so well produced. It just feels high quality. It’s crazy to compare the eras of the show, visually. It’s interesting, all doctors are generally anti-violence but their relationship with the military varies. 9 was a bit ambivalent about soldiers, probably due to coming right off of the time war. Mostly avoided them in his episodes (even in the midst of WWII). 10 was constantly at odds with them and was immediately snarky and judgmental to any kind of soldier he ran into. Sometimes, if a soldier merely existed in his presence, 10 took it personally. 11 regularly worked with the military and often had them at his command, be it on contemporary earth with UNIT or in space/time with the forces to save Amy or teaming up with the silence/papal mainframe/church military at the end. 11 was friends with Churchill for goodness sakes! Not to say he wasn’t an important figure but his place of fame is primarily military in nature- I doubt 10 would have considered him a jolly old pal even if he respected him. In this episode, the 12th doctor is closest to 10 for sure but I’d personally say nicer than 10 was in some of his episodes (like the Sontaran two-parter or the Doctor’s Daughter). So glad you’re enjoying these episodes and the new dynamic. I far prefer non-romantic doctor/companion relationships and as you said, it’s a relief to break from that. Honestly, even these two episodes in, I enjoy her dynamic with 12 more than I did with 11. The dynamic just feels more even, somehow. They poke at each other and banter like true friends in this episode, just like 10 and Donna did. That's all I want from a doctor/companion relationship, really.

word is that Doctor who is off streaming until whenever they decide either to renew licensing or the Special on December 25th

Peter Capaldi as the Doctor really feels like going on an adventure with that kooky grandpa, very Classic who feeling.

'You are a good dalek' is like the ultimate insult to the Doctor, your worst enemy is basically saying 'Hey, you'd be good as one of us you know!', that's gotta sting!

Capaldi is my favourite Doctor. They're all excellent but imo his acting ability is just far ahead of the the others, and that's saying something.

If you like him this early, you'll love him later on. Took me a minute to warm up to him personally, but now I'm his biggest fan. In general the longer his hair is, the better the episode are.

DSJ.

He's also, let's be frank, the hottest Doctor.

By a mile

D Scott Howard

The 1966 movie Fantastic Voyage was about shrinking a medical team (including Raquel Welch) and injecting them into a human body to do some tricky repairs. The first of its kind and inspiration for the stories that you are familiar with. Glad you are enjoying PC's Doctor.

HAHA kooky grandpa is a funny and accurate way to describe it

i agree!!! donna was another one of my favorite companions because i just enjoy when romance isn't a thing in doctor who. who knows if i'll always feel this way but i think the will they/wont they thing from early seasons got tired for me quick
