Danny was valid in being pretty angry. He sees the doctor as the reason why Clara has been lying to him for months and worse still, he sees him as an officer. And as far as we can tell, he really had a terrible time at whichever conflict he was involved in. No doubt he shouldn't let his PTSD affect others around him but hes human at the end of the day. The Doctor after having served in multiple wars should have known better. 12 likely sees himself in Danny which ties back to the am I a good man stuff. I think they're all to blame for how it all went down but in the end, it really just comes down to Clara lying so much to them.

to be honest, i really don’t like that EVERYONE is always against Danny

There is an issue of relationships and control in this series so far. If you remember in Listen the Doctor yelling at Clara to get in the TARDIS and to 'do as you are told!' and that episode ends with Clara telling the Doctor not to look at where they've been and that he should 'do as you are told'. Here Clara is trying to keep control of her life by keeping her everyday life with Danny and her life with the Doctor seperate, but she is doing so by lying to Danny, and at the end of this episode Danny in response to being lied to, lays down rules on Clara if they are to continue having a relationship, trying to get control over the situation. And all of it ties into the question the Doctor is asking himself, is he a good man, what is a good man for that matter? One of the things I love about this era of Who is how layered it is, we have never gotten such a close look at what it is to be the Doctor and at the Doctor /companion releationship in such nuanced depth.

A lot of people don't like Danny but i think what his characyer offers is more depth to the companion-doctor relationship. In previous seasons Martha & Donna would go off trekking with the doctor & when their family (minus Wilf) would ask where they were they would say they were studying or travelling and that was it. This relationship triangle (since its not a love one) for me creates a whole new dynamic, that more realistically portrays the challenges posed to your regular life when going on adventures with the doctor. As i said to you previously i liked the new direction they went with this doctor as well as the fresh approach to the daleks in ep 2, i feel this continues that trend of something different, maybe you like it, maybe you don't but at least you experienced something new.

Danny isn't the first character in Doctor Who to be a former soldier who became a maths teacher. The Doctor's old friend Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart also did back in the eighties.

I've watched this part of Who probably 3 times now and I keep trying my best to see Danny in a different light, and I totally enjoy that there are different opinions in these comments... but no matter how hard I try, I really dislike Danny and what he brings to the show.

You said the “Ozzie loves the squadie” slang made you feel old like this ep just came out, but it came out almost 12 years ago 😂😂
