I have a theory to explain this episode, even though it’s not that explanatory lol basically if you remember back to S5, after Amy and Rory’s wedding, the Doctor gets a call saying that there’s an Egyptian Goddess loose on the Orient Express—in space— but we never actually see it. I think the Doctor, Amy and Rory did come here, but the mummy wasn’t active at this time, still inside of the Sarcophagus, but maybe when the Doctor found and solved the mystery of the goddess loose on the train, it came out. Maybe it was afraid of her or something idk. But it does make sense that a mummy would be present since the Egyptian mythology ties in to both scenarios.

clara lied to both danny and the doctor in that last bit-danny never said he was ok with it. such a great episode!!!! gotta note that peter capaldi performed his recent solo rock shows in a sparkly version of this outfit, i looove both their outfits for this one. flapper clara is an all-timer

The scene at the end in the TARDIS, Clara says I love you when on the phone to Danny but looking at The Doctor, Coleman was asked at a convention who was Clara saying this to, to which she replied The Doctor Again this episode adds another layer to the relationship between Clara and The Doctor. In the last episode I spoke about how the end scene portrayed the danger and the trauma of being the Doctor's companion. Why would people continue to put themselves through that ? The fact that Clara does so because being with The Doctor is like an addiction, that despite the risk you keep coming back for more is a bit of a sinister edge to the whole thing & I love it as a dynamic And that line sometimes the only options you have are bad ones but you still have to chose is one of my favourites from the whole show P.s Another reactor that i watch got a copyright infringement on their YT & a strike against their channel for this episode in the regards to the Queen cover, she eventually reloaded it without the music at all. Something to watch out for

"I couldn't risk GUS finding out about my plan." "So you were pretending to be heartless?" Also "Was that Danny? What did *he* want? *rolls eyes*" 12. My pragmatic, strategic, petty king. <3

I miss sour Altoids so much. The tangerine ones were all-timers.

Look for Retro Sours Tangerine. Walmart and Five Below sell them.

This is 1 of 2 episodes by new to Who writer Jamie Mathieson. This is actually the 2nd one he wrote, he also wrote the next episode first, which Moffat was so impressed by he immediately asked him to do another one which turned out to be this episode. I personally think his two episodes are among the best new writer debuts in modern Who. The sweets the Doctor offers are jelly babies, a favourite of the 4th Doctor in particular, who 12 sounds suspiciously like during the monologue when hes talking to himself in his cabin. The 4th Doctor was also involved with mummies of a sort in the classic serial Pyramids of Mars. Lots of clever little nods in this one as well as just a very well written, tight, interesting episode that further explores the relationship dynamic of Doctor and companion adding more layers and complications to it.
