My mom said she thinks the Capaldi era is definitely the darkest and scariest of the show so far after watching this episode. She said that's probably why it's my favorite. I'm not sure how to take that but I'm also certain she's right. Everything about this episode is either horrifying or devastatingly tragic. From Clara's grief to the "they still feel everything" to the reveal of the boy Danny killed. Everyone is fully in the deepest of trenches. But the Doctor is the ultimate ride or die and his conversation with Clara always has me in tears. He may be bound by a code to maintain time but 12 would march straight into Hell for her. And that loyalty is not contingent upon anything, even her behavior. Call that unhealthy if you like, and maybe it is. However, 12 is definitely the least affectionate, most blunt, least outwardly caring doctor of modern who but this shows the deep love and devotion that flows beneath. His care balances in equal measure to any other doctor. Also, in my worst moments when I need to lock in, I give myself his speech. "Cut out the whining while you’re at it, we’ve go work to do. This is it, Clara, one of those moments."-“What moments?”-“The darkest day. The blackest hour. Chin up, shoulders back. Let’s see what we’re made of.”

Everyone seems to miss the cybermen hints with all the windows being shaped like their eyes and their little theme when the doctor goes through down saying I'm missing something.

At the time this episode got some complaints because of how dark this was, which I guess is understandable however I'm here for all of this! lol It's such a good concept and from second one to the reveal at the end the whole episode is insane and I love it lol There's some division over the volcano scene I think as some think it's a bit OTT but I think it really shows how off the edge Clara was sent by Danny's death, grief on an interstellar level, it also shows having the Doctor as your bestie is amazing, you can let him down and he'll still got to hell and back for you. Also...MISSY!

Just a heads up, there is a end mid credit scene in the next episode. Also pay attention to the opening titles.
