When I first watched this one it was my first three part one and the only one I can think of off the top of my head still, and I still am not sure how I feel about it. I feel like the moral they were trying to convey gets a little muddied by the fact that in the end the evil dictators were literally aliens and it wasn't a uniquely human issue

Did wonder how you'd react to the fake regeneration ... Don't think I've seen you that angry at the show before lmao You want to do what to Peter!? Emme how could you! :p It's kinda depressing how everything in this show is still applicable today, so much so that you probably don't notice it but if you keep an eye on the photos in the background of the Monk's HQ Trump shows up a couple times lol But yeah, really like the episode, Missy is always great, and it is so sweet that essentially Bill's love for her mother saves the day :)

You mentioned the music in this episode, so now might be good time to mention that we didn’t get an official release of the Series 10 soundtrack until December of LAST YEAR! But it was definitely worth the wait. Series 10 is Murray Gold firing on all cylinders!

Series 3 'could' be looked at as a three part finale. Yes, there aren't many are there. A singular highlighted, but non exclusive moral of the story is maybe most effectually focused on the lessons of human history. What that can teach us about liberty and how easy it is handed over to those whom promise to deliver, with empty and transparent lies. Particularly when it's for the shorterm fixes to longterm problems. Most of which are for situations of our own making as a collective species. Bill's emotional response to a difficult reality and prophesied future, despite The Doctor's and histories warnings. There will always be a trade off. Liberty sacrificed for security, and into the hands of your oppressors whom are seeking to rewrite the narrative. The alien Monks are the plots narrative device used to show a longer erosion in a shorter period. Making the point that often it's a mix of decisions that pave the way. As much a fear for our tribes and social groups and it is for the hatred of others that drives people to offer up their liberty. The critical event seemed to be by human design. So was the choice to hand over control to resolve it. The alien Monks were mearly taking advantage of the situation for their own personal gain.

I love your Doctor Who reactions Emme! Also, that scene in the pyramid with that soundtrack is just epic in my opinion!!
