The writer of this episode, Rona Munro, is the only writer to have written for BOTH Nu and Classic Who. She wrote the story Survival from the 7th Doctor era, which was also the last story of the original Classic run of the show before it was put on indefinite hiatus! It should also be pointed out that the two main groups featured in the episode, the Picts and the Romans, are the ancestors of the Scots and the Italians respectively, which is especially cool when you realize that Peter Capaldi is a Scotsman with an Italian surname.

The Master previously always had the sound of drums in his head which is probably why Missy is confused at why she's reacting to music the way she is, she's probably never just heard music before as it should be. But love all the scenes between the Doctor and Missy, they're so good together! And yeah on another note the scene of Bill finding acceptance of her sexuality with Romans was very sweet, also quite daming on today's society that you find more acceptance then than you would now...

There is a PBS Nature documentary you can find on youtube under "Nature Documentary A Murder of Crows" that will change the way you see crows. In a few ways. Only an hour, but absolutely eye opening.
