Fisk's love for Vanessa is a prime example of the fact that love itself is never black or white. Twisted or righteous, it can form from a lot of different sources and backgrounds. Vanessa's wish to be in Fisk's life "fully" was her request for pure honesty, because honesty is the sole ingredient for a relationship to not only be stable but to also grow. You can call Vanessa "weird" for loving Fisk, but there's always one who is out there for everyone. I can't see Fisk falling in love with anyone else other than someone who perfectly matches him as his other half. To keep Vanessa out of his life is not the same as keeping her safe. In what we saw in this episode, that would be just keeping her out.
