Yes River spent her days in Stormcage, her evenings well that's between her and the Doctor ;)

See I know that the villain was dressed like that to fit in with the times but that leather jacket and hairstyle was just giving me Fonzie from Happy days lol And yes Stormcage was where River was jailed. I like this episode too, it's a BIG topic to do but I think it hits a lot of decent moments. I was like you I thought they were going to make Graham be the bus driver but he's still pivotal because it's him standing that starts it all off, which is why I think he was saying he didn't want to do it because he's essentially the white man who has to make a black women move and with him still grieving over Grace it's a hell of a moment to find yourself in!

I don’t think people give enough credit for how dark this era can get. People just gloss over that Stormcage basically gave the space-racist dude the Clockwork Orange treatment after he attempted and partially succeeded in a genocide. Between the wanton violence of the Stenza from the first two episodes and the grief that follows, a planet called Desolation which was literally “made cruel”, the space-racist’s whole backstory, and the reality of living in segregated Montgomery, Alabama, this era has already dealt with A LOT of heavy material

Also, along the lines of whether the actors portraying the American characters are British, the actress who plays Rosa herself was in the Series 3 episode 42, and she was also one of the detectives from Sherlock. She is very much British 😂 don’t know about the others though

I think this is a great episode and I appreciate that it doesn't pull its punches when it comes to historical brutality. At the end of the day, this is still a show catering to a child audience and I think it's an important topic to be frank and open about. The episode is explicit in its messaging without dumbing it down imo. It makes it powerful for any age audience at the end of the day.

Love this episode. I am sorry you don't like the song! When Andra Day's voice kicks in with "You're broken down and tired..." I get goose bumps every time. Such an amazing song and singer!

taking this episode and comparing it with like a history peace from another season like van gogh shows teh problem of this season, the stories are good, the doctor is good ... the writing is questionable
