Here we go... things are about to change forever.... I hope this episode doesn't turn emme off from continuing to watch the show because pepole were more than annoyed at this episode. I remember posting on twitter after this episode coming out saying how much I enjoyed it. Seems community didnt have the same response as me.

I’m convinced that the MASTER was the timeless child and is lying about the Doctor’s origins. It just feels like it makes more sense.

This one rubbed a lot (a LOT a lot) of people the wrong way but I've come to enjoy it a lot more in hindsight, because I like when the show makes fans see previous stories in a new light. For instance, this one completely recontextualises Elevens final moments. He thinks he's about to die because he's out of regenerations, but Clara basically guilts the Time Lords into giving him another cycle of 12...or at least that's what we think (and what Moffat intended at the time) but now we have to ask, what was the Time Lords actual plan? Because if they didn't intervene, and let Eleven 'die'... his natural regeneration would have kicked in anyway and he would have known he was different to other time lords much sooner. I like a messy canon, what can I say.

I disagree, Timeless Child (origin of regeneration) concept aside, the Doctor being an adopted foundling fits with the history of the Doctor’s character, because they felt out of place on Gallifrey and had an insecure sense of belonging amongst their people, they find endings and goodbyes extremely painfulv, have abandonment/attachment issues, and are continually adopting family around them wherever they go. Which as an adopted person is something I can see.

James Evans

I personally think that this is a very underrated finale and reveal. I understand why fans dislike the actual Timeless Child concept of the Doctor being the origin of regeneration, because it makes them the fountainhead of Time Lord society. But, what does fit with the history of the Doctor’s character is the reveal before the child fell from the cliff and regenerated, which is that the Doctor as a child was found abandoned, adopted by Tecteun, and brought to Gallifrey. A part of this reveal came from the fact that Chris Chibnall is adopted himself, and so am I, so this reveal means a lot to me because when you look at the Doctor’s character across the show’s 55 year history by your point, it does fit so well with them because they felt out of place on Gallifrey and had an insecure sense of belonging amongst their people, they find endings and goodbyes extremely painful, have abandonment/attachment issues, and are continually adopting family around them wherever they go. There is also some Classic Who lore that relates to this episode, but to check with you first before saying anything are you okay with me revealing what that is? * I’m writing this while watching this and as you’ve just pointed out, the Doctor having a found family takes on a whole new meaning with them being an adopted foundling.

Why would they listen to Clara anyway?

michael moslin

If Moffat wrote it then those fans would have lapped it up

I agree with this. I think because of how series 11 was and in my opinion also a female doctor thats why too. I like this era especially series 13 and the 100th anniversary special. Series 12 is a good series best we have had in awhile. Chibnell knows how to write great shows and if I remember correctly when he was announced no one was happy. I mean hello Broadchurch. We gave this man too much hate. But over the years I feel like pepole appreciated his era now Emme please watch broadchurch I think you would enjoy it. Chibnell era was changed massively because of covid I remember him saying in a podcast recently. Meaning he couldnt finish the story and had to work on a different story to tell. Which I like

Alex Bennett

I don’t think so as People hated Moffat during his tenure it’s only in retrospect that he has become the most popular show runner.

i definitely dont feel any negativity towards it plus at this point i honestly cant even imagine stopping doctor who. i'm so close to being caught up

emmereacts

while watching, i really felt like it was 50/50 between it being the master or the doctor

Nathan

I always thought that they had limited the doctor to 12 regenerations anyway, but Clara guilted them into lifting the limit placed on the Doctor rather than just giving him a new cycle.
