Did you see who wrote this episode? The Moff returned! (Steven Moffett) and he brought all his lore to this one lol So some points which hopefully where the things you were trying to remember: He's brought up Valengard before, in the Doctor Dances with the 9th and Captain Jack (he wrote that double bill). He's also used the Anglican Marines before - They are from the Weeping Angels double bill with 11 at the beginning of Series five, he's big into that idea of how church and faith always seem entwined with war and I think he enjoyed expanding on that premise here, alongside what we have today with war mixed with AI and how War is just a money making exercise and to make the most money you just need to keep everyone scared enough... There was a lot of praise at the time for the thoughts and prayers parts as this was at a time where people were getting particularly sick of hearing that from politicians. The episode I think you were trying to think of was Oxygen with 12 and Bill. But yeah LOVE this episode, I think for people who were unsure or uneasy about how the first two episodes went I think a lot of people came back around after this, the Moff returned and went yeah I'm not big on musicals either let's spend the episode stood on a landmine calling out religion and war instead lol
