I think the teacher was under the control of the creature, when he gave out the eggs: then once he had distributed them to the students, I believe the creature killed him- though I don’t remember exactly as it’s been a while since I saw the full episode. I like how you acknowledged the intense feelings you had, regarding the Ted episode- or the “Tedisode” if you will haha. I completely understood what you meant, and felt the same way myself when I first saw it- I still feel the same decades later: that kind of story is always hard to watch, as it’s so frustrating to know the full story, & have to watch a character be gaslit in such a way. As for this episode, we’re back to the little more straightforward fantasy/sci-fi “big monster needs killed” kind of Buffy storyline: though this does have a little of real world angst to it, with the whole parenting angle going on, but the real issue with the eggs is revealed fairly early on, unlike the real story with Ted. It’s a fun little “monster of the week” episode, with a good, creepy sci-fi horror premise: the creatures inside the eggs are a good take on the “facehugger” from ‘Alien’; while the episode itself is very much like ‘Invasion of the Bodysnatchers’, due to the way the demon parasites take control of their victims & turn them into mindless servants. I think I might have read that it is also similar to an episode of ‘Star Trek The Next Generation’ episode, but I’m less familiar with that show: so basically it’s far from being a new or groundbreaking story, but it’s still a fun spin of that kind of narrative, done in the BTVS style haha. And I knew this episode would only further inflame your intense dislike of Buffy’s mom: again, due to her not knowing about Buffy’s secret life as the Slayer, she often plays the role of the antagonist, and comes off really badly- though her using the word “burden” was also rather uncalled for haha. It’s always fun to see the different reactions people have to certain characters: for example, you like Cordelia and find her funny (same as me), but I’ve seen several reactors that hate her- especially at first, before she discovers Buffy’s secret and becomes an unofficial member of the gang. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, if Joyce (Buffy’s Mom) can win you round haha. Great video, as always: I can’t believe we’re already over half way through Season 2. I can’t wait to see your reaction to the rest of it. 🙂 Hope you’re having a great week. All the best. xx

the discourse on cordelia was something i was not prepared for going into this! interestingly enough judging by my youtube comments more people like her, but they actually are already defensive of her even though i like her too? its very odd, i feel like im clear that i enjoy her as a character and yet i still get comments overly defensive over her and claiming that i dont like her.

That’s really weird: I understood you liked Cordelia from the start, so I have no idea what those comments are about. Don’t worry, I think you’ve absolutely been super clear on your liking of the character: from what I’ve seen of your reactions, you’re always incredibly honest with how you feel about certain characters. Fanbases can be weird, which you undoubtedly already know, and have firsthand experience of, judging by the countless films & TV shows you’ve reacted to: Lord of the Rings, Marvel, Doctor Who…I love them all, but Sweet Zombie Jeebus, they have some absolutely cretinous crazies amongst them haha. It’s the exact same with the Star Wars fanbase, which is definitely one of the very worst. When you see some of the discourse that goes on in fanbases, it makes me want to stop liking those movies and shows, so people don’t associate me with those people: but instead, I just do my best to keep out of it all, & try not to get involved in any of the pointless online arguing. This is obviously nearly impossible for you, since your job is to react to movies & TV shows: you must see countless comments. from online nutcases, that bash you for either not enjoying something, or even for just not liking the thing as much as they do themselves…which is just weird haha. I feel really sorry for you, and other reactors, for the amount of abuse you all must get from these rabid fanbases: the YouTube comment section is terrible place at the best of times, so I can only imagine the shitshow it must be, when you’re reacting to beloved or popular TV shows and movies haha. The BuffyVerse fanbase seems, on the whole, to be pretty good: but it definitely has elements of that kind of toxic fan, who everyone else tries their best to avoid. But people being overly defensive of Cordelia could have something to do with real life issues between the actress, Charisma Carpenter, and Joss Whedon: as you know, he’s a massive toxic arsehole himself, and apparently he was incredibly shitty to a number of people on the show, especially Charisma Carpenter. I won’t go into a lot of detail about it, in case I realise halfway through that it would involve spoiling something in the show: but that may explain them being overly defensive/protective about Cordelia- at least that’s the only thing I can think of. But I just have no idea why they were like that with you: it’s been obvious from the beginning, that you really like the character, and you’ve never really said a bad/overly negative thing about her. I’d say some people are just bad at reading these things, but I’m pretty sure you’ve actually said the words “I like/love Cordelia” at least once since you started Buffy: you really don’t need to be able to read signs, or look for clues, in order to work out what someone is thinking, when they just come out & say it haha. But, as I said, fans are weird haha. I can’t wait for your reaction to the next episode: I know, I say exactly the same thing every week, but that doesn’t make it any less true haha. Hope you’re having a lovely week. All the best. xx
