I watched this when it first came out and I'm still thinking about it 😆

This is my favourite nucti era episode its so good. This episode is like marmite you either love it or don't.

Dragon

This is probably my favourite of this era. I like stories that leave space for audience interpretation. It also reminded me a lot of Turn Left. Both about companions trapped in timelines without the Doctor. Its an episode designed to not make sense and I find that really interesting.

I just wanted to inform you that your numbering of the episodes in this season is a bit off. When I google season 14 episode 5 I get the next episode (and this here "73 yards" is officially the 4th one), because The Church on Ruby Road" was only a christmas special between seasons (or season 14 episode 0 if you will). Personally I don't mind but it could lead to confusion.

I had exactly the same reaction to the people in the pub.

Im probably just going to remove the numbering on youtube because in the US theyre numbered the way ive been doing but i learned in the UK theyre numbered the way youre saying. And when i google either, no episode shows up 🤦‍♀️ its honestly a bit of a mess lol

This is such a great, unsettling and creepy episode: while I haven’t seen ‘Midsommar’, I still know what it’s about, and you are absolutely right, that this episode gives off that kind of vibe; both are examples of a sub-genre known as “Folk Horror”. I think Millie Gibson did a fantastic job of basically carrying this entire episode on her own: I believe this was one of the first episodes they shot of the new series, which makes it even more impressive, considering she would have still been getting used to the role. This is one of the episodes that I’ve been really looking forward to you watching in this series: I remember loving it when I first saw it, because of how different it felt to other Doctor Who episodes. I also really love folk/fairytale horror, and I thought they did such a great job, at creating unease and fear, by doing so little: this episode could have probably been an hour longer, rewritten to have nothing to do with Doctor Who, and it would have made a great film. Though that might have been a bit too much like the 2014 horror movie, ‘It Follows’, which is also about an entity following people…which is obviously self explanatory, given the title of the film haha. I’m so glad that you’re enjoying Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor: I think he gets unfairly criticised by a lot of “fans”, with a number of people seemingly just waiting to hate him as soon as he got the role. But a lot of that hate often came from racist arseholes, who weren’t even fans of the show: it was always funny to me, when these morons would complain that Doctor Who had “gone woke”, simply for having the nerve to cast a black man as the Doctor. Firstly because, anyone who actually uses the term “woke” pejoratively, in an unironic way, is a fucking moron whose opinion on everything can, & should, be ignored: but secondly because, any Doctor Who fan that has paid attention to the show over the years, knows that it has always been “woke” haha. But enough of me complaining about morons dissing the Doc haha. I’m just happy that you like Ncuti’s as the Doctor, and that you’ve noticed his range as an actor: I feel that is often ignored by a lot of people, who just want to find things to complain about…I know, the words “Pot and Kettle” come to mind, as I complain a lot in these comments; I like to think that my complaining is done for constructive purposes haha. I’m looking forward to your reaction to the next episode (I know, I always say that), as I think it’s one you’re going to like: well, assuming it’s the episode I think it is; I’ve only watched this series a couple of times, but not for a while, so the episode order isn’t deeply seared into my brain haha. But if it’s the episode I think it is, then I’m very much looking forward to your reaction to it: you rightly said that this episode was a trip, and I would say that the next one could also be described the same way haha. Even though you’ve probably already watched it, I won’t go into specific details about, just in case you haven’t got round to it yet: and also because I can’t remember if the next episode is the one I’m thinking of, & I don’t want to spoil something. I could have gone and looked up the episode list for series 14, but I feel far too lazy for that: besides, I’ve only got a couple of days until you release your reaction video, so I can wait until then haha. Hope you have had an excellent week, and that you’re enjoying your weekend, so far. 👍😀 All the best. x

Definitely my favorite episode of this season! Its premise is so unique. Since you’re nearing the end of doctor who, I wan to possibly add a show to your sights:)) I know you enjoy marvel, so I wanted to recommend Marvels Agents Of Shield! It’s quite possibly the best marvel show I’ve ever watched and so underrated

I love this episode, but I will say as a Welsh person, the pub scene annoys me a bit. The Welsh are known to be warm, sociable, and friendly, so it’s weird how Russell, as a Welsh person, portrays the whole atmosphere as immediately hostile when Ruby walks in. I wish what had happened instead was that most of them were friendly, but then when Ruby starts going on about a ghostly woman and witchcraft, they think she’s taking the mickey, and so play along with it, cos us Welsh also know how to have a good laugh too.

oh that is so odd!!! seriously missing context i was wondering why welsh people were being portrayed that way

agents of shield has definitely been recommended to me a lot! im not sure what the future looks like long term for schedules, but believe me its written down as an idea!

Yeah, and literally not long after that scene, Ruby goes back to England and it's set in London for the majority of the story. In the 20 years Doctor Who has been made in Wales, not including Torchwood, the country and people have rarely been featured. When RTD said he was coming back to write, I was really hoping we'd finally get a Welsh companion and Doctor, as we've had both English and Scottish actors, but just like Rose, Martha, and Donna, Ruby, while originally from Manchester, is living in London. If Doctor Who relocates from Wales to another part of the UK, that will be disappointing to say the least because you had the chance to bring Wales to the world, to do something new and have both a Welsh Doctor and Companion.
