hi friends!

my editor finished mando early and i could use a bit more time for rebels so i am switching the upload days!

here is my reaction to the mandalorian season 1 episode 6 "chapter 6: the prisoner"

as always, a great episode!

I guess this is you're introduction to The New Republic a democratic union of various planets across the galaxy and was the restoration of the Galactic Republic re-established by the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Following the Battle of Endor, Mon Mothma issued a declaration that formally established the New Republic and completed the Rebel Alliance's transformation into a political power. By Mandalorian they've only been around for 5 years so they're still getting the hang of being the new power in the galaxy hunting down any Imperial Remnant forces and trying to maintain order. This is why they're not taken seriously by the people of the Outer Rim as they're yet to prove that they can live up to the Old Republic and fix the wrongs of that government. Mando also referred to them as "a joke" in Season 1 Episode 3 when Greef Karga recommend Mando to contact the New Republic about the Imperials holding Grogu. Great seeing X-Wings as well with each pilot being a director of the show from Dave Filoni to Rick Famuyiwa, and Deborah Chow. Same X-Wings used in the original trilogy so the New Republic are just using the same ships from the Rebellion but in the EU they did start developing their own ships ranging from cool new fighters and bombers to their very own Star Destroyers to counter the Imperial Remnants something I'd love to see in Mandalorian going forward or any other show or movie set within this era.

Clancy Brown, who plays Burg in this episode has actually played a couple Star Wars characters already. Savage Opress in TCW and Ryder Azadi, the prisoner who knew Ezra's parents and former Governor of Lothal, in Star Wars Rebels. Also this' by far my favorite episode of season 1. Mando is a straight badass throughout it and the setting and characters are really cool.
