This episode is so problematic. It is the highest rated episode of this show and because its basically just an episode of manalorian. A very IMPORTANT one at that. I know a bunch of die hard starwars fans also people who love boba fett and for one reason or another they never got around to watching this show so then s3 of mando starts and its like wait.... what happened in between s2 and 3? where did he get this ship from ETC. Confused as to if they just didnt have enough episodes to fill this show or if they wanted more for mando but couldnt fit it in so they squeezed it in here. IMO as a streaming service the episodes dont have to be a set length but they seem to stick to specific episode length seasons so why not just give us a set amount of hours per seasons instead. So if some episodes are short that just means we have room for another episode or 2.

This episode was filled with cool information: 1. We finally get to see a Ring World in Star Wars. Ring worlds really became popular with the Halo games but they go as back as 1970 with Larry Niven’s novel Ringworld. This idea was based on the real scientific concept of a Dyson sphere in which a civilization covers up its home star with a shell, in order to capture all of it energy output like we see in Mandalorian. Niven solely worked on the equator which gave birth to the Ring look that went on to inspire Halo and of course Star Wars along with other media. 2, The Night of a Thousands Tears Flashback was heavily inspired by Terminator with the Mandalorian helmets being the skulls and the KX-series security droid being the stand in for the Terminators. 3. Mandalorian new ship is a N-1 Starfighter a ship introduced in The Phantom Menace where it was used by the Royal Naboo Security Forces and developed by the Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps. It's also the same ship Anakin flew as a kid when he took down the Droid Control Ship. So its very cool seeing a Prequal Era ship that was designed to be more slick and retro futuristic inspired by 1950s sports cars alongside the more gritty and used looking Original Trilogy ships like the X-Wing. 4. We see the same model of Droid of BD-1 from Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor. BD-1 himself was created for the Jedi games so it's expected that they'll be more of these style of droids even if there pretty rare. So many people thought this was BD-1 but this droid is credited as BD-72. Not sure if BD-1 is the model of the droid or if it's like a serial number where the number is when it was created for example BD-1 would be the first droid created in this line. So BD-72 would be the 72nd Droid created etc. 5. R5 is the same droid from A New Hope that the Jawas attempted to sell to Owen Lars, but R5-D4 purposely malfunctioned his motivator at the advice of R2-D2, R2 was on a secret mission after all from the Rebellion. So in many ways 52 is a true hero of the Rebellion and it's nice seeing him back here. 6. And finally the area Mando fly's through (Beggars Canyon) is actually the pod racing track we saw Anakin race through in The Phantom Menace. Only difference is Mando is going the opposite way but the formation and layout of Beggars Canyon is a full accurate recreation from the film down to the broken barrier Anakin broke through while taking a short cut.

That's why this season is often called The Mandalorian season 2.5. You were saying you were hoping for more. His clan really shows how much of a strict cult they are in this episode compared to the main Mandalorians like Bo Katan. And Din now has the Naboo Starfighter similar to what kid Anakin flew in Episode 1.

There's a lot of Episode 1 references in this episode. The new ship is a Naboo starfighter that Anakin uses at the end of Episode 1 and the canyon that Mando flies through is the same one from the pod racing. Also, "wizard" comes from Anakin's friend saying to him "This is so wizard Ani"

There’s a lot of controversy around this episode because it takes such a big detour from the main story but imo the episode is so good that I don’t mind the weird timing of it. The next episode is one of my favorite TV episodes in Star Wars and I’m sure you’ll love it too

I think it was an error not to call it "The Mandalorian: the Book of Boba Fett." Solves a lot of those problems with a small stroke.

The X-Wing Lieutenant was also one of the two pilots that saved him from the giant ice spider.
