hi friends!

here is my edited reaction to star wars episode viii: the last jedi!

i think it can be said without a doubt that this movie is definitely different from the other star wars movies we've had so far. i think it's still hard for me to wrap around how i felt about it, but overall it was not bad! and i'm looking forward to the next movie.

thanks for watching with me!

while there are some things i wish they did differently, like Luke being that far gone, but I think this movie gets way more hate then it deserves because they went with a way out of left field direction. I for one think there are some amazing moments added to the Star Wars canon...Like Luke and Leia at the end, its such a touching moment...Also the scene with Yoda...I tear up during it because its such a great scene and Yoda lays some amazing wisdom on Luke like always....Oh and Luke punking Kylo at the end is also a scene I love...

For me, this movie was just absolutely bad. They completely assassinated Luke as a character. They turned Rey into a complete Mary Sue by having her become more powerful with little to no training. They killed off two characters who both had so much potential and were played by incredible actors who were completely wasted by Disney. It introduces more annoying and unlikable characters, has plot points that make no sense whatsoever, wastes opportunities for characters to grow, ham fisted political agenda, pointless side plots, only creates more questions, instead of answering questions, no characters gain any growth whatsoever except Luke, but he shouldn’t have even had this character arc because it’s completely against Luke’s character. Luke fought tooth and nail to bring Anakin back the light even knowing his crimes. When Kylo has one single dream of the dark side, what does he do? Does he talk to him? Counsel him? Does he try to appeal to Ben as his Uncle and as his master? Does he try to tell Han and Leia? NOPE!!!! Luke just immediately goes to kill him while he is defenseless and asleep. That would never *EVER* happen. I don’t care that it was only for a second. It doesn’t matter Luke would *NEVER* do that. That is just objectively a fact. If for any reason, Kylo still turns to the dark side, Luke would not wallow in his self pity or shut himself off from the force or just give up. Luke would not rest until he was able to turn Kylo back to the light and would never give up on Ben. This writing so awful and stupid. This entire sequel trilogy happened because Disney got Luke completely and objectively wrong. Also, basically nothing happened in this film. This plot is something that would have happened in one episode of Star Wars Rebels. It’s so lazy. Literally, it’s just the Rebels/Resistance going on a slow chase trying to escape from the Empire/ the First Order. Thats it. Thats literally it! Sure, Rey is training with Luke, but what part of the story did that evolve? Nothing! Luke didn’t teach her anything at all. And the Finn and Rose side plot was absolutely pointless. They could have literally stayed on the ship with Poe and the other Rebels and it wouldn’t affect anything at all. There is actually only 1 good moment in this film and it’s when Luke and Leia reunite. That was nice, Other than that though, there is little to nothing about this movie that works. This movie made me really mad when I saw it for the first time. Sorry about the rant.

Jesus, you are still fuming after all these years...its just make believe man...but you are correct, RotJ Luke would never try to kill his nephew and padawan...The production was missing someone with the smarts to say...ahhhh yea, you can't do that

You are gonna reignite the fandom wars! (TLJ is a masterpiece.)

This movie was such a rollercoaster for me when I saw it in theaters, and it still is when I watch it now 😂. Some great moments, and many questionable moments. Generally speaking, I think it’s a technically well-done movie, but as it fits into Star Wars as a whole and those characters and those stories, it unfortunately felt underwhelming overall…

The scene in Return of the Jedi where Luke is like "I was born here, you know," & Han replies, "you're gonna die here, you know," that's always felt like Ohio to me.

DJ cut a deal with the info about the small ships escaping...information he only had because Poe blabbed about it, which is a great example of why Holdo was being top secret about it.

I unashamedly love this film and think overall it's pretty great on the whole, and I'll die on that hill!

I think this movie requires multiple watches to appreciate its brilliance and how well it’s written, shot and edited. It dares to take risks and adds something new and fresh to the saga while staying true to the history of both the Star Wars lore and real life production. However, Johnson builds some of the most tense and emotional scenes in the trilogy, but he undercuts them so often with an over-the-top whimsical gag and I think that gives the audience whiplash. Story wise, I feel JJ painted him into a corner at the end of Ep 7 with the cliffhanger ending, but even despite that he manages to take the characters in interesting and challenging directions. I’ll also add that he gave us the first class-conscious, anti-capitalist narrative in a Star Wars film and that alone deserves applause.

If you check out the deleted scenes, you’ll learn that Carrie Fisher slapped Oscar Isaac countless times. That one slap took several takes. Something tells me she enjoyed it.
