THANK YOU, BROOKLYN. And thank you Patrons. The audience last night at the Bell House was fucking awesome. Wow. Thank you thank you thank you for coming.

If you missed it, it was a chaotic jumble of different segments I wanted to try out, and I got to hear your secrets and fix a few problems and orchestrate a makeover and possibly a love affair.

I also forgot the whole point of the show, which was that the Ologies we covered (Oratology, Eastern Bluebird Zoomusicology, Campanology & the Acerology of New York’s state tree, the sugar maple) were all THEMED around speaking in New York at the BELL House. Oops. Forgot that part.

Thank you for being there and I wanted to come to the lobby and meet and hug you guys but there was family who had come in for it and a few work/business people that I had to say hi to backstage and then we had to pack up all our shit. Next time I’ll come say hi!

Let me know what else you would have wanted to see in a live show! Like, should I have made it easier by just interviewing one person? By not dancing? Or was there not ENOUGH chaos?

And for links to the custom shirts we made onstage and the places we donated, here you go: alieward.com/ologieslive.

What a wild night. Thank you again. Onward!

Aaaaahhh,

Your Dadward and Mommy Nature

Ps: also I found out afterward that someone passed out!! Let me know if you know them and I’ll send them a free shirt.

So happy Ologies live was chaotic, lovely, and everything we all knew it would be! Extraordinary! Please have a live in California! I wanna go! 💜💜

PippaPutterbaum

I was there last night!! It was such a blast. The only small suggestion would be to have someone pre Read the audiences questions/secrets and then hand you the best ones. That way you know they are good and not a bummer. But it really was hilarious

Shale

Yes definitely agree!

Ara Victor

girl if you ever come to Minneapolis i will bake you bread or cookies or do a portrait or Something i swear

Shale

It was so fun! I really enjoy when podcasts go for the variety show style. I think ologies could get away with that or a more typical interview style event. Would definitely go again especially if it came to Philly :)

Manish Agarwal

👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Alie Ward

Bangs Shelby or Fishtown Shelby?? Too many cool Shelbies in one place!!!

Shale

Sarah’s friend Shelby ! Sadly not haircut Shelby who I was very jealous of

JENN 'Benthopelagic squirrel' ALVAREZ

Omg id fangirl so hard if I got to see you in person! Im back in Louisiana so imma need you to come here. NOLA works for me, THX! 😂

MeganTheLibrarian765

That’s cool!!! Hope you post it as an episode. Edited to add Indianapolis would love to have you!

Adam T. Berns

I REALLY hope you can bring the Ologies LIVE! Show to The Henry Ford (or somewhere equally as cool in the Metro Detroit area) since you're already often there for Innovation Nation. As far as format, the more chaos, antics, and shenanigans the better. Didn't get to attend so I only have the snippets you posted in Instagram to go off of, but maybe do a panel show with 3 or 4 of the most popular Ologists in a style similar to "Wait, Wait… Don't Tell Me!"?

Spencer Holtaway

Love this! Really hoping San Francisco gets a live!

Colby Evans

Looks like a great time for all - love the pencils!

RJ Doidge

It was so chaotic, DadWard. Especially being RIGHT IN THE VERY FRONT FUCKING ROW. Thank you so much - and the voice in your nature garb was terrifying. It will haunt my dreams.

Alie Ward

Oh shit I could have met you!! I know all your names and I’m sad I didn’t get to thank you in person for coming!

Megan Younce

ahhhh I can't wait for the day when you play in san diego :)

Diana Teeter

It was the perfect amount of chaos! It was like being a spider on the wall of your office while you put together an episode. I loved it. (I was in the second row near the stage). The dance was a pure joy and I keep telling everyone about the surprise haircut. It was like hanging out with a theater of the coolest friends for an evening.

Annabelle

Are you gonna release a recording of it for those of us who couldn’t go?

RJ Doidge

I was hoping you’d come out and mingle with Sarah McAnulty, but that’s okay! Next time!

e-rennebee

not to be annoying but pls come to toronto. i will personally bring the entire audience if i have to (i wont have to dw, canada loves ologies)

Amy

I second NOLA we'd love to have you here

Priyal

Sounds amazing! I'd love to see you in Australia (Sydney).

rowantree

It was a blast, so chaotic! I would also screen audience comments (as PippaPutterbaum said) and definitely do dancing, it was so fun to participate in the audience. A short interview with an ologist would have been so fun!

Lindsay Mixer

It was an extremely delightful show!! I want you to bring in your mother nature voice in the podcast, it was delightfully creepy. Also one of the secrets you read was mine and I wanted to scream/offer to tell the story so badly 😂

Adrianne Mahon

It would be very cool if you could come to Canada! I am queer and not comfortable crossing the border, but happy to hear the live show went well!

Liz Smith

We had a great time! Wish the space was larger. I enjoyed seeing all of you in person. Next time bring merch if possible. You’ll sell out.

Leanna Shuster

Last night was so special! I won't lie that we were really hoping you'd come out into the lobby, but we still had fun chatting there with our favorite teuthologist. Oh, and I asked Sarah to make sure you ended up with an envelope I slid onto the stage at the end. Hope this won't be the last such event in this part of the country! Seems like a lot of us raised our hands when you asked who was here from Philly, so maybe Eastern PA could be a good future location?!

Raphael Santore

It was an amazing event. Your are the best. Thank you.

Staci Pinkowitz

I’m soooooo sad I couldn’t make it! We got tickets and had been looking forward to it but had a family funeral yesterday. Worth missing anything to be with my family but fingers crossed you do another show soon!!!

Katie Pinette

Sorry to hear someone passed out! I know how not fun that is. The secret I shared was actually about passing out after a blood draw shortly before Halloween. I'm so pale to begin with that bleach calls me for advice. Afterwards, I joked with my friends that at least it was seasonally appropriate for me to look even more like a sickly Victorian child than usual. Now my best friends call me SVC for short. On a show note, I'd love to see a Q&A section like your podcast. I know that can get long with a live audience so you could have folks submit questions when they're sitting down like you did with the secrets. Then someone back stage and screen them and pick a few interesting ones out for you to answer at the end.

Alie Ward

I LOVED your letter and needle keepers and molecules!!

Leanna Shuster

Yay, I'm so glad!! It really felt important to me to share something with you. I only thought of the peptide structures as I was writing my note - so happy I was able to include something from my niche of nerdiness! And if you ever need graphics of chemical structures, just say the word. It would be easy for me to make ones like those or more 3D looking.

Leanna Shuster

Yes, I'd been thinking ahead of time that I needed to replace my logo shirt and that it would have been great if there were ones available at the show!

Alie Ward

It was such a beautiful letter and gift!

Mark Condon

It was a ridiculously fun evening! I loved that you cobbled together the New York themed ologies (somewhere, James Burke was smiling at the connections!). Thanks for a great first live show!

Britt Kline

I’m SO SADDD I COULDNT GO!! But alas — 4+ hrs away and mid-week 😫 Not happening at this point in my life. I’d love to see the recording!! It’s so cool that you did this and I hope you come to smaller venues one day — like Ithaca, NY! Or even Syracuse or Rochester! Upstate NY loves you, too!! 🤩

Alyssa Erika

🌹🌹🌹🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 (also I just died laughing on the bison episode when you said let me back up and then played the sound #spotless)

Alie Ward

So glad someone other than me liked that

GhoulNextDoor

I so wish I could’ve made it!!! I was in NY a week before so it was a narrow miss! Alsoooo somewhat off-topic but on topic to the bison episode and something I feel the fellow Ologites would like to know- there’s an Indigenous run initiative based near me called Appalachian Rekindling Project from their website described as : “is a region-wide initiative that began to establish and sustain an intertribal Indigenous center where Native people can physically return and gather in central Appalachia as well as to care for and protect land collectively”. They’re currently working on brining bison back to Kentucky on the land they diverted from being used as a prison site! They’re still a ways away from their fundraising goal if any ologites have any money to throw their way! Here’s their link : https://www.appalachianrekindlingproject.org/ Also for any other Appalachian based Ologites they have a voluntary land tax option that I recommend if able!

Milenka K.

It was such a fun show and I'm so glad to have seen it!! I just recently moved to Brooklyn (and have been listening to ologies in lab allll the time) so it felt serendipitous. Also I was inspired to make a hair appointment (yes I am going to cut bangs for the first time ever, wish me luck!) <3

Michael Wilson

OMG hi Diana (I am one of those friends. We have one of Diana's original paintings of an otter, which we asked for long before the otter episode)

Heidi M.

I hope it was the sports one!!! I was rolling 🤣

Heidi M.

The panel is a fantastic idea! I loved the suprise that an Ologist was in our midst that night. Would be so fun to see the dynamic live!

Heidi M.

Loved the elements of a crowd surprise of some kind (like the haircut), the crowd-sourced secrets, Mother Nature segment, and having an Ologist around! Would have loved to buy merch and hear from an ologist in some format. Future shows should definitely include a way to support an Ologist's cause cuz you know we're here for it!

Jenius

Hey Alie, Will you ever have a show in the Detroit area?

Jennifer Garibay

When’s the next show? Dadward Tour dates?! I will fly to see you!
