Enjoy this buffet of information about carbohydrates, sugar, molecular biology, the ketogenic diet and the pros and cons of labcoats, with the wonderful and lovely Michelle Dookwah.

This episode for some reason was such a challenge to edit -- I hadn't gotten my new mic cables yet (this was recorded in October) so some of it got staticky and had to be cut, and Logic Pro was being an absolute butthole when it came to bouncing the track, so it went up in the wee hours last night.

But I'm so happy it's out and I hope you get all of your post-holiday winter carb questions answered. I love making this podcast and Imma get sappy, but it's an honor to have you as listeners. Thanks for funding it and helping it to exist.

I just listened to this episode today and I do agree, glycobiology is cool! It made me sad though to hear all the bits about poor body image and using low carb diets to “look better” and borderline dieting advice :( as someone who’s worked through a serious eating disorder and still struggles in normalizing all foods and accepting my body… I can’t help but hear the echoes of similarity. I hope we can encourage ourselves and others to move towards a healthier relationship to our body image and food. I still struggle with wanting to change myself, but I know I am healthier now and I deserve the mental freedom from my eating disorder. I doubt we’ll ever live in a society that’s gonna be helpful with body image—but I just hope the safe space that is this wonderful, wonderful podcast and community can help promote behaviors that make us feel our best rather than indulge fearful vomitous narrative our shitbrains produce sometimes
