Hi. It's been a while. I don't feel comfortable or safe talking about why I haven't posted in a couple months. I know that may make some people angry, and I understand why---but I hope there are those of you who can understand that sometimes self preservation (emotional and physical) is necessary, and it's not always simple. I haven't known how to address things that have happened, and I have been truly scared to post. Devoting so much of yourself, your time, your money, and your life as a whole to something that you are then fearful of (for multiple reasons) is a terrible, debilitating experience. The guilt that comes with not knowing how to rescue yourself, and the subsequent self loathing is something I have never had to process before. I would like to think that one day in the future I will be able to talk to you all about this time in my life, but until then, I ask for your forgiveness through these words. For the last 4 years, creating has been my joy, and it's my passion. It's what I feel like I am supposed to do, and I have done everything in my power to explore and innovate ASMR, and I am so proud of what we've accomplished together. We've helped pioneer a genre that is only getting started, and changing people's lives (creator and viewer alike). I recently watched two videos I made on my blooper channel where I talked to viewers on Omegle. While watching, I was bawling---but in a good way. They made me realize that my love of creating, my original desire to help, and the joy you all give me is more compelling than the awful things that I've been trying to navigate. I miss you. I really fricken miss you. 4 years ago, I felt an explainable urge to make an ASMR video when the genre was still in its infancy, and it started something I never saw coming---but it was something that ultimately became what I feel is my calling. Watching those Omegle videos of some of the wonderful people that I have poured my life into in order to try to help and entertain, made me feel that urge again. I never stopped working on content. I bought a new crazy good camera to film with, and I've started some groundbreaking projects within the ASMR genre (some that I am not yet allowed to discuss because of NDAs) while I've been absent. If you will have me, I'd like to start sharing with you all once more. I am still going to be scared, things are not 100% okay, and it may take me a while to get back up to work horse posting pace, but I think being with you all again might be part of the path to get there. I'd like to start streaming as well, so that we can interact more (without as much typing, cause responding to literally hundreds of thousands of comments over the years has killed my hands/wrists) and play games together. I am also changing one of the rewards on Patreon from a private subreddit to a private discord where we can chat in person regularly. I can't make a video about this. I won't be able to do it without crying. I can't even type it without crying. I've felt for so long that I don't deserve you. I hope you know that. I've never stopped feeling indebted to you. Ever. I have so many things to be thankful to you for. Your kindness, your support, your love, and your faith in my devotion to ASMR. I will do my best to show my gratitude through my content and actions as much as possible. But right now I want to thank you for helping me find me again. See you soon. <3 I will be streaming here in the future: https://mixer.com/heatherfeatherI will be sending all active Patrons who donate $10 or more a month an invitation to the private discord. Discord is sort of similar to reddit in that you can type, but it also allows us to voice chat! PS. I usually am nervous with chatting until I get used to it, so please be patient with my nervous giggling. I can't help it. To make up for the missed hangouts, all active patrons who are $100 or more are invited to weekly private hangouts through July and August, every Friday at 5pm EST.

<3 You've got all my support Heather.

So sorry to hear that you've been going through hardship. I am glad that you have gotten the courage to come back. Thank you for being a positive inspiration in my life, and I can't wait to see what you accomplish next.

Phoenician Sailor

Miss you Heather. Nobody can touch you. Hope you feel 100% soon, and make stuff whenever it feels right.

I'm so happy to hear you feel like you can start returning to sharing what I know you love doing. Also, in a similar vein to those Omegle videos, I was recently watching one of your older videos, and there was a lovely present at the end. I'd like to share this with you now, as a present to you, from yourself. https://youtu.be/OO3f9cB0_r4?t=35m16s

You're kidding, right? You don't need an excuse to take personal time. We're not your boss. :) We just fricking love you and we're here to support everything you do, mmkay? <3 <3

<3 Can't get angry. Can't be upset. Everything you create feels like a beautiful gift. Whatever you need to do to help and empower yourself, do it.

Ham the Terrible

I don't know what you're going through, but I do know if I made a video or two with my face on it and it blew up so big, so fast, I would hide in a hole forever. Most of the people who know me believe me to be a pretty stable and tough individual. So in comparison, Heather Feather is as tough as titanium nails.

Amanda Dausman

Do what you need to do! Your fans will love you any old way :)

Vivian

Thinking of you. :) Hope that you get to a safe place soon. We miss you too.

Hi Heather, welcome back! 🙂 I'm sorry you've been going through hard times, and that you don't feel entirely safe. I hope you're ok and things continue to get better for you. You made a huge contribution to the community, and you shouldn't feel bad about taking a break. Sometimes you need to take care of real life. We appreciate you! Thank you for the update. Take care and see you in future videos ☺️💜

Bill Scurry

This is huge -- thanks for sharing. We're the lucky ones who get a little piece of the enterprise to enjoy at home, and we're humbly grateful for whatever shape that may take.

Matthew Schrot

Thank you for the post :) No worries. Hakuna Matata

It's just good to know you're still out there, though I wish things were going better for you. You know I believe in you, unconditionally, and I look forward to whatever you release in the future. If there's anything I can do to help, please don't hesitate to drop me a line. Some creators have just dropped off the globe entirely (like diana dew) and have still collected monthly for like two years now without so much as a peep to let their patrons know they're even still out there. I know this was hard for you, but it means a lot to us to know that you are still there and haven't forgotten about this place. Whatever you're dealing with, I honestly wish you the best of luck with all of it. I have faith in you.

Lo Brundell

You are an amazing person and a brilliant creator and you deserve safety and peace <3

Rebecca Bamford

I'm sorry to hear that things have been tough, but I wish you all the best for everything. You're a beautiful person, it shines through in your videos, so you deserve the best. As I don't know if I've said it before, THANK YOU for all your content, as well as your openness to us here. You've been so helpful in keeping me relaxed and focused at work and as I study, so much so that you can probably claim half of my master's degree (once I get it :p). Take all the time you need to mend and look after yourself as best you can x

Paisley Park

Sorry to hear that you've been going through a rough spot. Take your time and don't worry about us too much. We'll be here.

David Cann

I hope that you are OK Heather; really sad to hear that you've been feeling this way. Taking time to protect yourself is important & you shouldn't feel guilty for that <3

Brian J. Parker

We love you! It's hard to know what to say since I don't know exactly what you're going through, but I wish you the best.

Take your time, you do you, lots of moments old and new, those unkind, are untrue, they have nought better to do. Save your chi, just sit back, you'll be fine, it's not a lack, of courage, though the feelings black, we are as one, we'll help you back.

To me and I'm sure many others, you're more than just a content creator, you have helped me a lot and we care about you, do not stress about us and do not feel guilt, we all support and love you no matter what :)

Oh, dear Heather. I listen to ASMR because it heals me. It reminds me to take a moment, to breathe, to reflect on myself and take care of myself. How cruelly hypocritical would it be if we turned around and said it's not okay for YOU to take a moment, to pause to care for yourself? Your physical, mental, emotional, spiritual wellbeing is important. It is crucial. You are worthwhile. You are valuable and valued. Not just for what you can do or what you can provide - but for who you are. This is true, even if some people don't or won't recognize it. Your worth isn't contingent on how many videos you make or how many comments you respond to. Those are icing on the cake. I support you for you. We're not going to be mad if you take a break when you need it. In fact, I would be heartbroken if you pushed yourself and ignored your health when you really need a break! Don't feel guilty. We want good things for you, just like you want good things for us.

punkduck66

Heather - I first discovered ASMR through your videos (Sleep Police!) about a year ago. My life has been pretty stressful and chaotic for a number of years and you have given me a route to calm, peace and sleep. It was a good few months before I ever got to the end of one of your videos! Even on days when sleep eludes me I can gain rest and relaxation through ASMR. I have explored other ASMR artists and some of them are great but there's only one Heather Feather :-) What you give to your followers and viewers, how much of yourself you invest and the gentle sweet magic of who you are is something fabulous and unique. If you never made another video I would support you on Patreon because you give me support every day even though we've never met and you have no idea who I am! :-) It made me so sad to hear you've been in a bad place and even worse to know that you are beating yourself up for thinking you are letting us down! I wish there was a way we can let you know how much you are loved and how many peoples' lives you have touched and made better. You've given so much you but you have neglected yourself. Please please please take whatever time it takes to find your safe place and your happy place and be well. We'll always be here for you as you have been for us.

Greg Delisle

Heather -- nothing but love for you. Take the time and space you need and when you are ready to publish again, we will be here. There is no bad feelings here, only acceptance and love.

Scott Morrison

Heather, I'm just glad you're okay. I was honestly worried that something truly bad had happened to you. Take whatever time you need and be strong.

Art of Free Speech

I feel like anything I say at this point would be trite and repetitive, so I'll do something not normal to my character and try to keep this short (and I failed... oh well). You, Heather, have brought smiles, joy, laughter, sleep, and calm to my life more than anyone, ANYONE else in the last 4 years (I was with you almost from the beginning). I don't want to express anything which could be taken the wrong way, so please just know we care about you deeply, and will always be here for you. You really have no clue just how important you've been in our lives. I'm glad to hear you're safe. Be good to you. We'll be here whenever you're ready to come back.

Tony Kent

I totally get the trepidation, but I truly think you have nothing to fear. Your friends are still here for you. edit 7/23: I've been listening to one of your 2013 videos ON LOOP. It's a Binaural Haircut Role Play. Your 3d soundscape was amazing, even then. Here it is: https://youtu.be/4FW__s6VDWc

Sarah&Darryl

Practically, there's nothing we can do for you so. . .

Sarah&Darryl

What do you call a bear in the rain? A drizzly bear.

Mickelous ASMR

I'd still just have an untouched music channel with 15 subs if it weren't for your channel. Going through some weird times myself. Take your time. Stay awesome.

Ben BD

I actually subscribed to your Patreon while you were away, and I grew increasingly worried over time... but I'd still be supporting you even if you didn't post this message. Take your time, you're awesome, thanks for what you're doing! :D

Deb Snyder

I want nothing more than to give you a hug, tell you it is ok, and that we will still be here whenever you are ready because we love you, and love your content, no matter what has to happen for you before you can post again. Prayers and love are being sent to you that whatever your situation, you can be strong through it and find peace within yourself and with your situation. Hugs and love to you Heather!

sweesbees

I didn't have reddit so i only gave 5 bucks but a discord? hell yeah i'm in

Hi Heather! You've been my favourite ASMRtist for a long time. Even though it's been a while since you made a video, your work is still available. I'm sure there are at least a hundred videos of yours that I still haven't seen. You're still there for me every time I need it. Every time.

TG

You are great, and though I hope you will release more content because you are so good at what you do, you shouldn't feel any pressure. What you have already created has done so much for so many people. Everything from here on is a bonus, that we will very much appreciate, but is not required.

corpocannibalism

Considering that you're the mother of ASMR, Heather, it's fitting that you get to dictate the future of it. I've been a long time lover and a recent supporter of your work; and am excited to see what comes next! Stay strong. Hold on. Take all the time you need and we'll always be here with love and support.

AnonymousDude

You're life comes first lady. Throughout my high school years to the present, your videos have remedied my restless nights. You've done enough, so don't feel like you owe us anything.

Gamehen

Oh man. Sounds scary. Please take care of yourself and do what keeps you safe in all ways.

Rainmaker

If we didn't want to support you, we wouldn't be here. We live in a freaky time where privacy doesn't normally exist. You're doing something where you're demanding both. You're drawing a line and saying 'this is my space to recover, and that's my public life'. That's something that people don't normally do right now, but it's healthy, and you should take whatever time you need to be the best You, that You can be. Be safe Heather. Be healthy. You've produced more than enough content already, and when or if you're ready, we're sure you'll make more. You're a person first. Be that person.

Rainmaker

Also, I changed to an ergo keyboard a few months ago, and it fixed a lot of the wrist strain problems that I was having. It was like, 80 bucks and something Microsoft branded. Also got a trackball. Super helpful.
