Patreon Newsletter #39 (Patreon)

Dear Patron,

Time to lift the lid on that Secret Project we've been teasing...

Alexander's Mutiny Speech Remaster

Eight years ago, while researching our Alexander the Great series, I read a speech in Arrian's history of Alexander that was so powerful and dramatic, I was immediately determined to turn it into a video. With help from talented friends (actor Patrick Kennedy, artist Russel Herneman), we turned it into a 7 minute video that now has 15 million views - not bad for an extract from a 2nd century Greek historian!

The first time I saw Martin Klekner's 3D animations of ancient Greece, I was similarly determined to find a project we could work on together. And we finally found the perfect one: a fully animated, 3D reboot of our Alexander's speech video.

Congratulations to all those who guessed the topic from our sneak peeks! Here's a few more, and the full video will be out on Patreon in late July.

You can also find out more about Martin's work via his own Patreon.

Production Updates

Lost Books

More ancient history coming soon with Lost Books. This (experimental?) video features 5 top ancient historians, explaining which lost historical book they would save from oblivion, and why. We've got Prof. Barry Strauss on Tacitus, Prof. Caitlin Gillespie on Agrippina, and more. New editor Eddy is currently giving these interviews a suitably dramatic and ancient look, plus we're commissioning new artwork to help us picture these lost works and their authors.

Hundred Days - Ligny & Quatre Bras

We last saw Napoleon on the threshold of his final campaign - heavily outnumbered, but convinced of his destiny to reconquer Europe. Our Hundred Days series will pick up at this very moment, with French forces invading Belgium and marching towards simultaneous battles at Ligny and Quatre Bras. PMF Productions are working on what must surely be our largest battle map to date... can you spot D'Erlon's First Corps?

We are also working on our next episodes of our WW2 and ULTRA series, and recent poll-winner, the Medway Raid of 1667.

There are also MORE secret projects, which will be announcing soon!

And finally, a closer look at some of the new Patreon tier artwork, also coming soon...

That's it for now, but we hope we've got you excited for some great new videos in July - new animations, an entirely new format, and of course the familiar, cherished history of the Napoleonic Wars. Thanks as always for your amazing support.
