Dear Patron,

It's now been a month since our Patreon tier refresh - we hope you're all settling into your new Napoleonic ranks, from Marie-Louises all the way to Maréchals d'Empire!

Read on for Patreon perk updates, but first, the latest production news....

Production Updates

Hundred Days: Waterloo

The Hundred Days: Waterloo will be our next Patreon release - the long awaited reboot of our first ever video. The new version is on an altogether more epic scale, and we've pushed the launch date back two weeks to give us time to do justice to the full scale of events. Patrick has shared this screenshot to give you a glimpse into the guts of the huge battle animation he is currently wrestling with - more than 300 moving parts! ETA for Patreon release: 9 October.

World War Two: 1940

We are currently finishing the script for the next episode of our WW2 series. Each of the war years will be split into two videos, so the next video covers events from January to June 1940 - expect Norway, Battle of France, Dunkirk, Italy joining the war, and lots more. The script will then go off to Professor Richard Overy for marking review, then we'll get stuck into animation.

First Crusade

Animation work continues on the First Crusade, where Rob Nield's brilliant new visuals are set to give this fascinating topic a fresh lease of life. Some more sneak peeks below...

Life of Nelson

Work is underway on our 'Life of Nelson' project, which will fill in the gaps between our battle videos. 'Gaps' is probably not the best characterisation, considering what Nelson got up to in these action-packed years... a daring expedition into the jungles of Central America, the reckless raid on Tenerife, sieges in Corsica, scandal in Naples, and several aggressive naval actions. And to think, before all that, this is what Uncle Maurice had to say about Nelson joining the navy!

MAJOR POLL INCOMING!

Next week we will be posting a new Patreon poll which will help us to choose a future, major series. Think epic, think imperial - and keep your eyes peeled for the post next week. A reminder that voting rights are for Chasseurs and above.

Annual Memberships and Patreon Tier Updates

DID YOU KNOW you can now purchase annual Patreon membership - with a 20% discount for each tier?! Head to the membership section to check out prices for annual membership. You can also gift Patreon membership to a fellow history lover.

And finally, some Patreon perk updates -

Behind the Scenes

From next week we'll be releasing extra, informal updates about our production work to Patreon members of the Old Guard and Maréchal tier - photos, screenshots, interesting stories we've discovered during research, that sort of thing. Note - the Patreon newsletter will continue to contain all important production updates, and remains free for all followers. But if you feel like taking a peak behind the curtain, make sure you're in the Old Guard or the Marshalate!

'Ask Me Anything'

Access to the Patreon 'AMA' chat has been extended to Cuirassiers and above. We strive to answer enquiries from all Patreon followers, but questions put to us in this forum are guaranteed a full and considered response. So if there's anything you've always wanted to ask me or any member of the team, about our work, our background, or almost anything, you know where to go...

That's all for this newsletter. As always, thank you for your support... we'll see you at Waterloo.

Theres many of Napoleon's Campaigns you've not covered Echmull - He considered his Echmull manoeuvre one of his finest in war Lutzen - Tactically Marmont calls this his finest hour Bautzen - Hard core fight that he wins Dresden 100'000 men v 200000 and he wins

Geraint Thatcher

You should definitely cover the War of 1812. When Brock met Tecumseh, Tescumseh said "Here is a man"

Geraint Thatcher

And the battles with the Russians before Austerlitz

SImon Turner

On the WWII series as the war escalates, how will you be covering from 1942 onwards? There’s so much going on that any video which does it justice will likely be many hours long. Will it be broken into different parts or something else? I’m sure it’ll be amazing in any case.

Lord John 🇵🇱💚

This is fantastic & can’t express enough how stoked & excited I am for all of these awesome upcoming releases!!!! Thank You Epic History!!! 💚

Stuart Carver

Imperial….now that sounds Roman! I really want you to get ultra 3 and 4 out so the series is done, it just keeps getting pushed back, I think it’s been over a year since part 2 and I’ve really enjoyed it. I know it doesn’t do huge numbers but you’ll have the compilation which is often when you bring in a larger audience over the medium/longterm anyway so I think it will find is audience in time. I’m also a big fan of Jame’s animations in this and the Apollo series so I hope there are more collabs in the future!

EpicHistoryTV

Yes, we're keen to push on with Ultra too. The issue is James's availability - as an extremely talented animator, he's in high demand!

EpicHistoryTV

That will be the challenge. But being concise is very much the point of the series - we are aiming for a succinct, global summary, that is authoritative but also accessible. We want to help people see and understand the big picture.

Geraint Thatcher

Have you read John Gill Thunder on the Danbue book series

KJ Grimes

1. How many parts will ULTRA be? 2. Can we also expect to see more detailed maps in future episodes of the WW2 series? 3. Do you plan to make any more "Rise of {COUNTRY}" videos like you did with China? Some other possible countries could be Russia/USSR (starting with the 1905 Revolution), USA (starting in 1917 with their entry into WW1), Poland (starting in 1918), Germany (since 1919) or India (since 1857)?

KJ Grimes

How often will we get a new WW2 video?

EpicHistoryTV

1. 4; 2. No I do think so. The plan is to stay at a global, strategic level. But we might return to cover some campaigns in detail. 3. Sort of, yes. Definitely more big picture histories.

Stuart Carver

Damn him for being good at his job 😂

Matt Craig

Sounds like American Revolution will pick back up in January 2027? Love all of your videos!

KJ Grimes

A few things you missed with the 1939 video, the Gleiwitz incident and the Soviet ultimatum to Finland, some pretty important events

Lord John 🇵🇱💚

The anticipation of returning to the American Revolution is something I am also quite keen on as well. Very much looking forward to seeing what is in store for the next chapter 💚

Lord John 🇵🇱💚

& regards to Nelson & the conclusion of His story. Thinking it is going to be monumental honestly & immensely action packed 💚 & as mentioned prior hoping this will give way to other amazing Admirals of the period James Saumarez, Cuthbert CollingWood & Thomas Troubridge the list goes on 💚

Lord John 🇵🇱💚

To see if momentum is gained, Going toss this out there, Is it bad to have hopes for a documentary on Archduke Charles? & the harassment He brought upon France in the yrs of 1798 to 1802.

LAT

Could you make a extended ww1 Video. Just with more details.

Geraint Thatcher

As far as I know this is the only English biography of Massena

Stuart Carver

I don’t know if you’ve seen that Veritasium have just done a video on enigma which has done very well. While it was good it’s not quite the same….and the animations aren’t quite up to James’s standard.

Lord John 🇵🇱💚

Most current reads for Me have been Napoleons Cavalry & It’s Leaders by David Johnson finished it about a week ago. & have just began The Fox Of the North by Roger Parkinson.

Geraint Thatcher

For Cavalry leaders read War at Saber Point by John Knight on Tarleton

EpicHistoryTV

Finishing touches, will be out in a couple of days..

Joe Spurrell

I’ve seen the battlefield of Waterloo 9 times in my lifetime and I never get tired of it… Waterloo got me interested in the Napoleonic Wars and it history

Matei Popescu

Maybe you can make a documentary about the campaign led by Murat against the Austrians, like a more deep analysis. And even with sweeden against russia. What I think would be great is just mainly the campaigns which took place in the Napoleonic Era

Hélder Alves

Just an ideia but, in the future maybe a 2/3 episodes about the RECONQUISTA would be a good content.
