Dear Patrons,

The second and final part of the First Crusade series is out now, I hope you enjoy it. This one took a bit longer than usual because of the fiddly battle maps, and because of the day job.

I will shortly be inviting the $2+ patrons to vote on the next topic, but before that, I want to try out a new kind of video - a Q&A on the First Crusade. Most of my videos so far have been straight narrative, and I'd like to try something that has more scope for a bit of analysis. I may also be able to produce it a bit quicker - we'll see how it goes!

As my awesome Patrons, you have the first opportunity to ask a question about the First Crusade. So if there's some aspect of this remarkable event that you'd like to know more about, please either add your question here as a comment, or send it to me as a message. I'll be picking a small number to answer in the next video - the best ones, the most common ones, and the ones I feel most able to answer!

Thanks again to you all for your support.

Best,

Toby

Epic History: First Crusade - Part 2

Part 2 of Epic History TV's story of the First Crusade continues with the Siege of Antioch. The Crusaders endure immense hardships outside the city walls, but finally take Antioch thanks to a ruse by Bohemond of Taranto.

Great video! My question: Was the Muslim opposition to the Crusaders composed of armies rallied from throughout the empire, or composed more of local armies/militias defending their immediate territory? In other words, was the defense force rallied on a "national" level, or more locally?

Giorgi Kvernadze

really enjoy your videos. I know it's slightly off topic, but would you be able to at least mention georgia(country) or the region in one of your future videos? especially since georgia had quite a bit of a role when it came to the survival of the crusader states after the 1st crusade.

EpicHistoryTV

Thanks Giorgi. I'll look out for ways to include Georgia...

Giancarlo Andujo

Are you going to do the second, third and fourth crusade?

EpicHistoryTV

There'll be a vote on the next topic shortly. Second Crusade will be one of the options.

Hi, the logo design has changed, is the old one bad?

EpicHistoryTV

No, the old one will always have a special place in my heart! Just think the new one is more effective - cleaner, bolder, more eye-catching.

Noah

it looks like a communist symbol lol

Noah

Sooooooooo can i suggest more nation history like maybe france or sweden since not many videos focuses on these conutries, like for example baz battles. history civilis and you have made alexander the great and that really pisses me off lol so could u do something that nobody would ever think of doing, like French or Swedish history

EpicHistoryTV

Thanks Noah, suggestion noted! I hope my Alexander video will be a bit different from theirs, but I take your point. I plan to keep offering interesting options for future topics in the regular Patreon votes...
