Dear Patrons,

Welcome to our second Patreon newsletter, with all the latest information on Napoleon, Nelson...and Tom Hanks!?

Napoleon in Egypt Part 2

First things first, I'm delighted to announce that Part 2 of Napoleon's Egyptian campaign will have its world premiere here on Patreon tomorrow! We rejoin Napoleon as he faces imminent attack by a huge Ottoman army...but decides to take the fight to them. It's an action-packed episode covering the battles at Jaffa, Acre, Mount Tabor and Aboukir, not to mention some of the most controversial actions of Napoleon's career.  Ahead of its premiere, here are a few exclusive images just for our Patrons...

Future Napoleon videos

Work has already begun on the next episode of Napoleon's rise to power - the Brumaire Coup! I'm pleased to say that we've hired a French graduate historian as a specialist researcher, to ensure we have access to both the latest French scholarship, and a heap of untranslated primary sources. There'll be less battles in this episode, but hopefully just as enthralling, as Napoleon gambles everything he's achieved so far in his bid for political power. Two episodes covering the Marengo campaign will follow.

Battle of Cape St Vincent teaser

At the top of this newsletter, you will find a short video trailer for our first episode of Nelson's Battles - the Battle of Cape St.Vincent. I hope you will agree it's looking pretty awesome. We are working with a very talented 3D artist on this, but the project was a little delayed because he had to go and do another thing with.. Tom Hanks. (see below). We're now putting the final touches on Episode 1, which should be with you in 2-3 weeks, with episodes on the Nile and Trafalgar to follow.

One Cool History Thing

One cool thing this week comes courtesy of a recent trip to Lightroom in London to see The Moonwalkers. Co-written and narrated by Tom Hanks, this immersive documentary tells the story of the Apollo missions and looks forward to the upcoming Artemis programme. What makes it different, and particularly cool, is Lightroom's stunning 27k floor-to-ceiling projections and earth-shaking sound...I can report that the Saturn V launch definitely comes to life!

A key member of the production team, delivering those 27k clips, was David Curtis - currently animating the closing stages of the Battle of Cape St.Vincent for Epic History!

I highly recommend a visit if you live in London or have a trip planned soon (it's showing until 9th June). And, of course, feel free to refresh your knowledge with a watch of our own Apollo series before you go.

That's it for now. Thanks for supporting the channel, and we'll be back with a new Napoleon video tomorrow!

Good to hear about Part 2 in Egypt, Coup of 18 Brumaire as well too! Marengo Campaign as well sounds promising for sure. Will the Marengo Campaign cover the prelude- ie the precarious military situation facing France in Northern Italy, under threat from Russian General Suvorov and the Austrians?

D Pink

History is indeed epic.. thank you Toby

Zr0w3n

Brilliant, would love some videos about famous explorers/voyages in the future, at some point in the future. To intersperse with the war videos.

Medin Burnic

Amazing!! I'm burning with excitement for these upcoming videos!

Stephane Michel

Will you cover Suvorov's campaign and Moreau's campaign in Bavaria?

Walter C

Correction: "Epic History TV" is indeed Epic* haha

Walter C

This looks amazing Toby, The graphics look stellar 👌and very excited about these upcoming videos! Thank you!

Gage Hardesty

Liked the video Toby for the Sea Battle of Cape St. Vincent can't wait to see it, it should also be noteworthy that before General Kleber showed the letter from Napoleon Bonaparte telling Kleber that he left the Army and sailed to France without direct orders from The Directory to come back, and left Kleber in charge of the Army he threw a wine glass at a wall nearly hitting a soldier with it and shouted "That Corsican Rot!" In front of the Army and Generals in the Egyptian expedition except for some of Napoleon's inner circle members who left with Napoleon to France, so just a little noteworthy thought to keep in mind Toby.

Stuart Carver

Those graphics for Cape St Vincent look magical, easily the best yet and now my most anticipated keep up the good work.

Covfefe Dotard

Look amazing I can’t wait for the release

EpicHistoryTV

We will set up the situation, as we always do, but the focus is on the Marengo campaign. Suvorov's campaigns would be another video.

EpicHistoryTV

Not in detail - only in so far as they form the context for the Marengo campaign.

EpicHistoryTV

Very good. Charles picked me up on this in the latest script recording.

TankerBricks

Good to know! Even a brief overview would be appreciated for certain!

Watching again part 1 of the Egyptian campaign carried out by the Little Corporal. He is great at everything he dared, although the numbers and military situation rarely favored him, especially at the beginning and end of his military career. This part of the campaign is the most remarkable of the expedition to the East, as he is once again outnumbered but continues forward despite everything. By the way, what time will the world premiere be exactly?

PastInNumbers

Will keep Charles Nove for your American theatre stuff? Or will you go to (an) American accent guy like the presidents video? I LOVE Nove sound, and I’m not sure if at this point you two are so deeply embedded that it would throw off the “vibe” to use someone else, or if it would be an interesting mix up. Whoever you chose, if so, would have some HUGE hype to live up to!

EpicHistoryTV

I can't confirm yet, but Charles certainly has a lot of fans!

EpicHistoryTV

Sorry, missed this query, was pre-occupied exporting the final video!

Nigel Pierce

Watching that new show “shogun” and it got me thinking that if you all don’t bless us with the Sengoku period it will be a huge miss that is the only true successor series to Napoleon series. You could ride that wave for the next few years

Eli Khanam

I live in London, but I would never go to the immersive experience since I have Astrophobia.

Just make sure you give me a shoutout if/when you do this topic
